Chapter 1: act 1/5 Trouble in twos
I was tired today, and it was only the second day of school, laying my head down on my desk I just let the talking of my peers go on. I looked out the classroom window and saw part of the old building, 'So that's where you guys are going...I don't envy you guys at all' I thought who knew the new Students were having classes in that old building. I just stare into the building until I get an unsettling feeling of something staring back at me, my skin crawling at the supposed eyes staring back at me, I try to ignore it as I just try to pay attention to Isamu and Ai's conversation.
The end of the day came by pretty fast, as I just walked around the grounds, Ai apparently was getting a head start on studying with a friend, and Isamu went off somewhere it didn't matter. so I was just alone doing nothing, just staring at the walls of the old building "...Maybe they wouldn't mind?" I psych myself up and take the time to find the entrance to that place. maybe it was curiosity or pity but I just went into that old place, The smell of old wood permeated the air, "Why am I doing this?" I don't know but just to find out, I soon came to a slightly open door and I saw someone cleaning the chalkboard.
"Hello?" I say as I open the door, the figure is a girl, and when I get a closer look, I can see the obvious wings on her back spring out feathers falling to the ground as she looks at me in surprise. "Ah sorry I didn't mean to startle you" I step back, as the girl? harpy? seems to compose herself, smoothing down her feathers and fixing her glasses, before sighing and looking at him with a tired smile "I-it's okay, I wasn't expecting someone to be here this late..." She then fidgets with her hands nervously, "Y-you're not here to mock us right?" she suddenly said. I was caught off guard by the statement "Why would I do that?" she looked at me as the setting sun's rays cast into the room she was about to say when suddenly I heard yelling behind me.
Two new transfers came scrambling into the room, and two voices, presumably belonging to them, were arguing. "Class president Ziz, Triton did it again!?" one of them exclaimed. "Ziz-san Jinn set fire to my uniform," the other complained. As they continued to argue, I stepped back, anticipating a possible fight. Observing them closely, I noticed that they both looked human, but they had certain peculiarities. The blue-haired guy, who I assumed to be Triton, was wearing a conch necklace and had gills and fins on his arms. His pants were rolled up to reveal his leg fins. "I've never seen a merperson with legs... I wonder if he can just have a tail?" I thought to myself. The other guy had a tanned complexion and some stubble. He looked like smoke was coming off him, and he had a genie lamp necklace. "Could he grant wishes? If so, maybe... no, I won't ask," I thought, trying not to get distracted. I needed to focus on the situation at hand, as those two looked ready to tear each other apart.
Ziz, the feathered girl, let out a deep sigh and shook her head. "Why can't you two get along?" she said, positioning herself between the two guys who were glaring at each other. Despite looking fragile compared to them, she stood her ground and seemed quite bold. "Stop fighting, both of you. We have a guest here, and you mustn't give them a bad impression of our class," she scolded them firmly. The two guys seemed to have just noticed me in the room, and the atmosphere between us became tense immediately.
I gulped as I felt three different sets of eyes on me. Ziz's gaze conveyed distrust, Triton seemed uncertain, and Jinn's eyes held hostility. "Hi there, it's nice to meet you all," I nervously said, waiting for whatever fate would throw at me.
