The Tales of Reverie Legacy Challenge is a generational challenge that includes equal parts wholesomeness and drama. Each heir has a story to follow, with a set amount of goals to complete over their lifetime, as well as a major lifetime event (or several) that will determine the trajectory of their lives. With the structured endings feature your choices will shape the future for generations to come.
This challenge is in the process of being revamped, meaning generations are undergoing re-writes, cuts, and re-ordering, with the addition of several brand NEW generations to come.
The 3.0 version hosts a variety of new features, fixes from version 2.0, and an updated generation structure.
✧ ✧ ✧
How It Works
Complete all goals, and the major life event—a crucial moment that defines your heir's journey.
Follow the structured endings to determine how your story concludes—every choice you make leaves a lasting impact that will shape the future.
Each heir’s life is predetermined by their predecessor’s choices—their inheritance, traits, lifestyles, and fears depend on their parents’ successes and failures.
✧ ✧ ✧
Find the challenge document HERE.
If you would prefer to stick with the previous version you can find it here.
✧ ✧ ✧
Note: I would love official challenge graphics for each gen, but as of right now I don't have the time or patience, and don't think it's necessary until more gens are written. So this will come in a very distant future update. Until then, all generation info is available on the google doc.

I was asked to provide a legacy challenge and well this is what I ended up with. This is low stakes 5 generation (+1 bonus gen) story telling legacy challenge. The goal isn't to complete all the tasks- it's to tell your version of a story.
Everything is adjustable to your tastes/accessibility. If you want to omit, skip, only halfway finish something then that is yours to do. The 6 stories are jam packed with drama as that is what I am seemingly known for. bonus: all generations were inspired by my fav pop girlies songs.
If you do plan to partake in the legacy challenge please tag me or use the #messylegacy so I can see!
The Legacy Document: I basically used @oshinsimblr's five families format to create the document. so all credit to oshin for that!

tysm to: @simbugge, @riverofjazzsims, and @misstybaby for viewing this for me.
I don't know if this is of any use for anyone, but two programs I use a lot that might be handy for Simmers (For a lot of people actually, but I'm thinking Sims here)
PureRef - Allows you to float a reference image above all your other windows. I used to use it for art until I moved all my art to Procreate which has this feature built in, but I also use it for Blender - for pose referencing and for my occasional dabbling in 3d modelling
IrfanView - I'm recommending this for its Batch Conversion feature, where you can batch-edit screenshots in a crazy amount of detail. The basics are conversion of file type and resizing, but you can also batch-edit brightness, contrast, flipping, colour balance, adding watermarks and text overlay, blur, grayscale, the lot. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND only using it to batch-edit image size and file type, but if you're not fussy, the other options are there! I don't use this for Sims pics very often, I usually use it to convert my FRAPS screenshots to .png.
Made a small String Override Mod to swap any instance of 'Dynasty' to 'Legacy' since I'm more of a Legacy Player than a Dynasty Player.
Only overrides the English Localization!
Grab it here! (SFS)

If you struggle to stay focused on legacy challenges or any grind-heavy tasks, this challenge is perfect for you. The aim here is to create drama and have fun!
This challenge is inspired by the TV show “Love Island” but with a twist and you do not have to have seen Love Island to enjoy this challenge. However, if you're curious, I recommend watching the Australian or UK versions, as they tend to be funnier and more unfiltered than the American one.
Thank you to the EA Creator Network for giving me early access to create content for you.

Download the Notion Template on My Patreon
I've created a Patreon for those interested in downloading the Notion template to keep track of all your islanders and progress. Notion is an online organization tool with a Pinterest-like aesthetic. My template provides a layout of the rules and space to detail each Islander. It's not necessary, but it's here if you want it.
For fans of my throwback save file, I will also be re-uploading the save there as it’s more reliable than Sims Share. Thank you for your support over the years on my YouTube channel and other socials. I hope you all enjoy the challenge!
Villa Video Update: If you aren't a builder Don't worry because I will update this post when I upload my speed build of my own villa for you to use. In that video I will also talk about the challenge rules. In the meantime, feel free to build your own or use the gallery to update a villa.
——————————————————————————
Initial Islanders: 4 female Sims and 4 male Sims ready to be placed in the villa. They can have any traits, likes, dislikes, turn-ons, and turn-offs, but no skills to keep it fair.
Bombshells: An extra 2 to 4 female Sims and 2 to 4 male Sims in a separate household. These "bombshells" are ready to join and shake things up when needed. They can have traits, likes, dislikes, turn-ons, and turn-offs, but no skills to keep it fair.
Optional Extra:
💡If you want to be extra, you can register all of them with the labor union and use that space to write out a bio for each Sim, but it isn’t necessary.
💡 If you really want to shake things up you could make each sim have a distinct style. For example, one can be cottagecore, sporty, old money, alternative, beachy, urban, witchy, academia, Barbie, outdoorsy, etc. Here’s a list for ideas.
——————————————————————————
Bedroom: One large bedroom with 4 double beds for couples. (And a couple extra single beds if someone gets left out.)
Bathrooms: Multiple shower and bathroom stalls upstairs and additional bathrooms near the gym and pool.
Upper Balcony: Equipped with sun loungers and couches.
Kitchen and Sitting Area: Spacious kitchen and indoor sitting area.
Sundeck: Features a large couch and firepit for eliminations and coupling ceremonies.
Outdoor Kitchen: Includes a barbecue and large bar area.
Dance Floor: Designated area for dancing.
Gym and Yoga Area: Semi-outdoor/indoor setup for exercise and yoga.
Swimming Pool: Large pool area.
Hot Tub or Onsen: Relaxation area with a hot tub or onsen.
Skill Challenge Room: Empty space like a basement to host skill challenges.
Buffet Tables and Drink Trays: Available for parties and events.
Victor Suite: Locked except when won by a gameplay challenge winner. Includes high-end objects like a computer (the only one in the house), spa massage table, fancy tub, and bed.
Secluded Date Area: Gated area to control access for private dates.
Iconic Pathway: Long pathway for eviction ceremonies.
Extras: Poohoo bush, closets, woohoo blankets, and optionally a photo booth for added fun.
——————————————————————————
You don’t have to play with mods, these are my recommendations.
UI Cheats: Allows you to view exact relationship points by clicking the "set relationship" button under each sim's romantic relationships.
First Impressions Mod: Provides detailed explanations of sims' initial impressions.
——————————————————————————
Weather Settings: Turn off rain, thunderstorms, snow, and blizzards in the game menu. Set seasons to the longest possible duration. Start the game in summer for a Love Island vibe.
Aging: Pause aging to preserve the contestants' ages for post-challenge play.
Free Will: Keep free will turned on to allow sims autonomy in their actions. Micro-manage only for needs; let them pretty much choose their interactions, friendships, and rivalries. The exception of the rule is if you are trying to get everyone in one area to start a gameplay challenge. But make sure you turn it back on after everyone is on their gameplay station. I recommend giving them a few hours to complete the challenge depending on what it is of course. Keep track of the order of who finishes (or stopped) the quickest.
World's: I recommend playing in Sulani or Tartosa for this challenge but the new world Ciudad Emamorada would work too (beware the villa would have to be smaller in that world though.) However, feel free to do this in any world you want but it’s best to play it in the summer season.
——————————————————————————
Utilize the in-game calendar system to structure your Love Island challenge. Each round typically spans 4-7 days, depending on your desired pace. Here are the key daily events to plan for:
Private Date Day: Select two or three couples to enjoy a private date in a special area of the villa or off-lot.
Gameplay Challenge Day: Determine the strongest and weakest islanders through skill challenges or quality assessments. The islander with the lowest quality item or skill percentage within a time limit of around 2- 4 in game hours, will risk elimination if they lack significant relationships.
Chaos Spin Day: Introduce random events to stir up drama and unpredictability among the contestants.
Coupling and Elimination Day: Held in the evening on the last day of each round. Contestants dress in formal or party wear for the ceremony. After the first elimination, the gender with numerical advantage chooses their partner first. Those without partners face elimination. Re-coupling may occur if islanders form closer bonds during the round.
"Bombshells": Introduce 4-8 additional sims (evenly split by gender) sporadically in each round to shake up dynamics. Morning of the date day in each round is ideal for their arrival, allowing them to participate in that day’s events.
——————————————————————————
On the first day, your goal is to have everyone meet and interact in the villa. Here’s how to get started:
Equal Numbers: Begin with an even number of males and females to form 4 couples in total.
Numbering Sims: Number each sim from 1-8 for easy reference during wheel spins.
Lovestruck Expansion: If you have the Lovestruck expansion, observe the sentiments and dynamics as the islanders interact. Pair up those with stronger connections.
Initial Dates: Start the day with a few different dates. Roll for the number of current islanders to determine who goes on dates. If a new islander or “bombshell” is entering, they will get the date. Choose their date based on sentiments, attraction, and relationship levels.
Natural Relationships: Let relationships develop naturally. Avoid interfering, but you can offer slight encouragement if you notice two sims flirting. The challenge’s fun lies in the organic unfolding of relationships.
⭐️ Keep the first day focused on introductions and initial connections to set the stage for the rest of the challenge!
——————————————————————————
Setting Up Private Dates
Use a number roller from 1-8 (or the current number of islanders). The chosen number gets to pick their date based on:
- Attraction system
- In-game sentiments/dynamics
- First interaction
Date Execution:
Unlock the gate for the couple to access the private date area, or teleport them in.
Bombshells:
When a new bombshell arrives, they get 1-2 dates to decide who they want to couple up with.
Limit the total number of dates to 3 per day. For example, a bombshell can have up to two dates, and you can still have one date among current islanders.
——————————————————————————
Suggested Skills for Challenges:
- Candle Making
- Cooking
- Painting
- Cross Stitching
- Gemology
- Knitting
- Woodworking
- Flower Arranging
- Media Production
- Mixology
- Nectar Making
- Fitness
- Yoga
- Rock Climbing
- Fishing
- Guitar
- Violin
- Pipe organ
- Juice fizzing
Here’s a list to spin for skill competitions
Challenge Outcomes:
- Winner: The islander with the best quality item, highest skill, timed score (depending on the skill chosen or combo of those) wins a night in the victor suite. They can invite their partner or someone else for added drama. If an unpartnered sim wins, they get a chance to invite someone and potentially steal a partner.
- Loser: The islander with the lowest quality item or skill point is at risk of leaving if they don't form significant relationships by the coupling ceremony. If it comes down to two sims, the one who lost the challenge leaves.
Tips:
☑️ Place skill-related items around the house or in a special skill room to allow sims to use them autonomously. This ensures fairness when spinning for the next challenge.
☑️ Don’t force sims to gain skills; let them choose to do so on their own. Any skill points they gain is all fair game for when it’s time for a gameplay challenge.
——————————————————————————
This day is just to keep you on your toes. The randomness will make your experience more customized and help you determine who is good with whom. I numbered these so you can use a number randomizer to determine which one you get for today.
⭐️ You do not have to read all 45 of them right now if you don’t want to. You may skip to the elimination section.
1. Use a number randomizer to determine which girls are getting into a fight today.
2. Use a number randomizer to determine which boys are going to fight today.
3. The couple with the lowest romance is fighting today.
4. The couple with the highest romance is fighting today.
5. Someone in the couple with the lowest romance is getting cheated on today.
6. Someone in the couple with the highest romance is getting cheated on today.
7. An old villager comes back for a day to cause some drama among a couple.
8. Get some activity tables; we’re doing a group puzzle.
9. Everyone gets on the yoga mats for a yoga class.
10. Throw a party of your choice; this can include villagers who have been voted out.
11. An islander of choice must get close with another islander outside their couple.
12. A massage therapist is hired for everyone today.
13. We get a slip and slide for today.
14. We get a couple of bowling alleys for today.
15. Tanning and beach combing day (if you are in Sulani or Tartosa).
16. Use a number randomizer (1-8) to give a sim 1+ skill points for free to use in the next challenge day.
17. Use a randomizer to determine who’s being messy today and woohooing with two different sims.
18. A couple of choice gets a date alone today; a couple with the lowest romance gets a chance to work on their relationship via a date alone.
19. A couple with the highest romance gets a date alone today.
20. Everyone plays a game of basketball.
21. Everyone has to skill up one point, but they each have to do a different skill from one another (and, of course, skills used for competitions).
22. The losers and winners of the last gameplay challenge day go head-to-head in a redo of the competition.
23. A new bromance occurs today.
24. It’s just me and the girls. Two girls get to be friends today.
25. A friendship occurs between a male and female who aren’t attracted to each other.
26. Everyone makes a friendship bracelet.
27. Throw a house party.
28. Throw a dance party.
29. Throw a pool party.
30. A sudden death occurs. You must kill off a sim; roll from 1-8 to determine who dies.
31. An engagement?! Roll 1-8 to see who’s getting engaged with their current coupled-up partner.
32. Tanning! Everyone just works on their tan today. (Maybe an enemy sabotages someone’s tan.)
33. Get a photo studio; let’s take some pictures for the house.
34. Everyone plays a card game.
35. We take everyone to another lot.
36. Take all of the girls to another lot.
37. Take all of the boys to another lot.
38. A double elimination occurs. The two people with the lowest gameplay challenge score go home.
39. They’re back! A female player that was voted out comes back for the next round.
40. They’re back! A male player that was voted out comes back for the next round.
41. Drama! Three islanders go on a date together in hopes of two coupling up.
42. Use the woohoo blanket.
43. Everyone plays darts or foosball.
44. Use a number randomizer to determine who’s getting a secret lover on Cupid’s corner outside of the household.
45. Throw a costume party and have everyone wear a random outfit from the costume trunk.
——————————————————————————
The first elimination is based purely on the islander who loses the initial challenge, because not everyone might of made a romantic connection yet.
All other eliminations will be based on who has the lowest relationship(s) and ranking in gameplay challenge.
Set up challenge stations in a large room, like a basement.
Randomize the gameplay challenges for a fun and unpredictable experience. Choose skills that produce items with a quality rating or judge by the highest skill points achieved in a set time.
——————————————————————————
Observing Interactions:
Pay attention to Sims naturally interacting, especially if they're already coupled but start talking or flirting with others.
If two Sims start being flirty around each other alone often, you can nudge the relationship by having them flirt once or twice to see if they will keep it going.
Recoupling:
A Sim might choose to recouple if their bond with another Sim grows stronger.
In a love triangle, the Sim that has the least connections (romantic and friend wise) and ranked the lowest among in the gameplay challenges, is the one that will be eliminated.
——————————————————————————
Let Cheating Happen: If a Sim cheats, let it play out naturally. Don't intervene in saving Sims if they die; it's part of the challenge. Butlers or maids can be hired to manage the cleaning.
No Careers at the start: None of the Sims should have a career initially. However, you can write them a bio if desired.
Adapt as Needed: If you don’t have a certain pack for a skill or activity, replace it with something you do have.
Managing Needs: Assign a bedtime to ensure needs are met. In the morning, control them to shower and eat. The first Sim up makes breakfast unless you have a hired butler or maid.
Encourage Flirting: It's okay to make Sims flirt or chat generally whenever you like, but for new romances, only initiate flirting once or twice to get things started. Do this only if you notice Sims getting flirty around each other often, as Sims usually won't start a romance autonomously without a mod. After that, don't intervene. If the romance doesn't progress, it wasn't meant to be. Follow their social cues and wants to let you know who they like.
Unlimited Funds: This challenge isn’t about money, so feel free to use the "rosebud" cheat as much as you like. 😉
Rewards: The winners could win the villa and you can renovate it in their style. Alternatively, use them in another challenge.
Questions and Feedback: If you need any clarifications, feel free to ask. If you try out this challenge, tag me! Use the #ts4romanticreef
Download thepancake1_MoreTraitsinCAS_v3a from the bottom of this post, then put it in your Mods folder. Make sure Mods are enabled in your game settings.
More Traits in CAS lets you add more traits to your sims in Create a Sim.
Version 3a works with game version 1.124!
The ages and their new personality trait counts:
Young Adult and older: 5 traits (up from 3 previously)
Teen: 4 traits (up from 2)
Child: 3 traits (up from 1)
Toddler: 2 traits (up from 1)
Infants remain at one trait.
Remember that despite more traits being available, you don't need to fill out all traits!
Self discovery (from Growing Together/EP13) still works with this mod installed, so your sim can still unlock even more traits during gameplay.
They'll show as a little hexagon near the second to the last trait.
What's new?
A slightly redesigned trait layout makes it easier to add more variants down the road. The previous version went over the sides because it added more traits while keeping the same size, but this update makes them fit in the original space.
Lot traits are now more similar to the human traits in layout.
What's fixed?
The personality trait panel extending beyond the right corner of the box when aging up or drinking the personality potion is now fixed.
Before
After
Lots of behind the scenes changes were made to make updating More Traits in CAS much easier using python scripts to edit the xml.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is updating from the previous version to this version okay?
Yes.
Can you use CC traits with More Traits in CAS?
Yes.
Where did the chingyu version go?
Vicky Sims/chingyu hasn't posted on their patreon since September 2025, so I've currently stopped providing support for this version. If you still need it, let me know below!
Can I uninstall the mod?
Yes, but any traits exceeding the default EA maximum will be removed on your sim.
Do pets gain additional traits with this mod?
Right now, no. I'm looking forward to see how feasible it is to add them though!
Conflicts
This modifies the traitsmoleculelibrary gfx file, and also the sims.aging.aging_tuning tuning and simdata files. Any mod that modifies these will conflict with More Traits in CAS.
Special thanks to the devs behind S4Studio, the devs behind JPEXS ffdec, and the devs behind python and lxml.
Please let me know if you have any issues or feedback regarding More Traits in CAS!
If there are any bugs, let me know! I'll try and fix them as quickly as possible.

HOT TEA LEGACY CHALLENGE (Graphics)
If you’re looking for a way to spice up your gameplay in The Sims 4, let me introduce you to one of my current obsessions: the Hot Tea Legacy Challenge ☕✨
This challenge created by @lxdice, brings a fresh, aesthetic, and drama-filled twist to the traditional legacy challenges you may be used to. To make the experience even more fun (and visually easier for me), I decided to create my own set of graphics for the challenge
Of course, full credit for the Hot Tea Legacy Challenge goes to @lxdice, who came up with this amazing concept. I just added my own creative touch with the graphics! If you would like to support me please feel free to subscribe to me on youtube

Eight generations, each with their own unique storylines and drama-filled tasks to complete! I started making this sometime last year when I had less packs and mods than I do now (I literally only have 4 packs lmao) and I wanted something base-game friendly that also forced me to play emotionally different than I do now.
This is a base game challenge but feel free to use any and all mods/packs/etc to make it your own!
Feel free to play along with me, and post your own images using the tag #bdc :)

Gen One: Evil Mastermind
Backstory
Who says all villains are heartless? Despite aspiring to be the greatest criminal the world has ever seen, this Sim can’t help but want to begin a long, fulfilling generation. Being a criminal isn’t the wealthiest career but this Sim vows to give their children everything they want! Now, if only they could keep their evilness in check…
Gen Two: Adrenaline Junkie
Backstory
Living with a criminal has turned this Sim into an adrenaline junkie! They crave adventure and anything that will get their heart racing. What better than to become a Secret Agent and work for S.I.M? As well as getting high on life, this Sim loves to make others laugh. Unfortunately, sometimes their jokes can be a little on the mean side, which doesn’t earn them many friends…
Gen Three: Homemade Hermit
Backstory
This Sim's parent was always on the go-go-go and now all they want to do is settle down for a quiet life with only their paintings for company. Unfortunately, sometimes their independent nature gets the best of them, causing a rift in both family and friendships alike. Because of this, this sim is seldom happy tied to anyone, and often pushes others away. The only person they want to be with is a ghost they haven’t seen since their childhood…
Gen Four: Villainous Valentine
Backstory
After living a sheltered life, this sim just wants to live a little! If that means breaking hearts left and right, then so what? Growing up alone has numbed them to human emotions, including their own. Oh, well! At least they have money to console them, and an increasing pile of bodies…
Gen Five: From the Ground Up
Backstory
All this sim wants to do is rise to the top as an Athlete and destroy their competition. After running away from home as a teen, they're more motivated than ever to become the greatest. But their carelessness gets the best of them and soon they end up with too many kids and barely enough money to feed them! Guess it's time to pack up their dreams and crawl back home to a parent they hate…
Gen Six: Style Influencer
Backstory
This sim’s parent did the best they could, but growing up with so many siblings really grated them the wrong way. There was no attention left for them! Now they’ve moved out and found their true passion in creating and crafting outfits, but that little spark of jealousy has never left them. Dating taken sims has its ups and downs, but one thing’s for sure; at least this sim is taking attention away from another!
Gen Seven: Ground Control to Major
Backstory
This sim’s parent always had their head firmly planted in the ground, but they can’t help that theirs is somewhere up amongst the stars. Everything seems to be going well down on Earth, especially when they marry and have kids with the love of their life, but what could be going on up there on Sixam? What lies in the great expanse of space? This sim has to find out, even at the cost of their family…
Gen Eight: That’s 50’s Show
Backstory
Having an absentee sim as a parent has messed this sim up in a big way, but they’re determined to work through it. Sure, a white-picket fence and kids running around the house is a dream for them, but it’s a lot harder to stay committed than it looks. Feeling trapped, this sim can’t help but reach out to someone that isn’t tied to as many responsibilities as their partner is…
howdy! so a long, long time ago in like 2019, i decided that i wanted to rewrite the not so berry challenge originally by @lilsimsie and @alwaysimming to fit in some more of the occults and other packs we’ve gotten over the years since their challenge was originally created. this was also partially inspired after seeing @sweetlysimss had created an updated version of the original NSB challenge as well around the same time, so credit where credit is due! check out both the original challenge and sweetlysimss’ updated version — without them i wouldn’t have been able to be confident in recreating the challenge to suit my own tastes and interests! ♡
the challenge still follows a similar structure to the original challenge, but i’ve adjusted many of the generations to fit storylines that i find more fun, adjusted the rules to things that i personally would like to explore, and make use of packs that i don’t find myself playing with to their full potential too often. i especially added a lot of occult gameplay, because i tend to just make occult sims and then don’t do much to play with their specific gameplay or with the aspirations that come with the pack they’re in.
if you’d like to see a full rundown of the entire legacy, click here to see the google doc i’ve made with all of the generations’ rules laid out for you. below the cut is the first generation’s rules so you can get an idea of what the full challenge will be like!
I wanted to try and make my own legacy challenge since this community is full of so many incredible ideas. This challenge is only five generations and not composed of my all-time favs, but these were the shows I could come up with plots for. If people like this one, I’d consider making a part 2 though!! I also have all the packs so feel free to amend this to fit your packs or play style!!
Gen #1: Loser Geek Whatever
Aspiration: Friend of the World
Traits: Childish, Geek, Jealous
Career: Tech Guru, E-sports Gamer branch
Summary: You were always the loser as a child. You never had many friends and always longed for more: Connection, popularity, attention. You spent most of your life playing video games, but now, as a Young Adult, you are determined to broaden your social circle and become cool.
Rules: You must max the Tech Guru career (E-sports Gamer branch) and max the video gaming and charisma skills. Complete the Friend of the World aspiration and have at least one child.
Bonus: Use a color scheme of purple, blue, and green. Have a difficult or distant relationship with your child(ren). Pine endlessly for a friend your whole Young Adult life, and only marry them into Adulthood.
Gen #2: What Baking Can Do
Aspiration: Appliance Whiz
Traits: Ambitious, Foodie, Family Oriented
Career: Running a food stand
Summary: Your parent was always so busy with their many friends, and you missed out on a lot of important teaching moments. As a Young Adult, you marry someone you aren’t very compatible with and end up expecting a child with them. Not wanting to raise a child in your current environment, you work your ass off baking and cooking for your food stand to make enough money to leave your spouse and give your child a good life.
Rules: You must be married as a Young Adult and divorce them. Max the baking, cooking, and gourmet cooking skills. Have only one child with your ex. Getting re-married is optional, but you must not have any children with your new spouse. You must run a food stand as your main source of income (having part-time jobs as a teen or while initially in your marriage is fine, but once you decide to leave, get baking!)
Bonus: Use a color scheme of pink, yellow, and light blue. Have a permissive relationship with your child. If your food stand becomes too easy to manage, open your own restaurant!
Gen #3: Waving Through a Window
Aspiration: Freelance Botanist
Traits: Gloomy, Loves Outdoors, Socially Awkward
Career: Writer
Summary: Your parent was good to you, but you always knew the sacrifices that they made for you, which left you with the anxiety to succeed. But you don’t want to do anything ground-breaking…You just want to nurture your plants!
Rules: Max the gardening and writing skills. Join the writing career, become a freelance writer, or simply write books and publish them. This should be your main source of income, but you can also sell your plants for extra money. You don’t have to get married, but you can, and you can have as many kids as you want.
Bonus: Use a color scheme of blue, black, and white. Max the flower arranging skill. Tell a lot of lies to everyone, including your friends, family, spouse, and children. Write only fictitious stories for your career.
Gen #4: I Might Be Beautiful
Aspiration: Admired Icon / Successful Lineage
Traits: Neat, Party Animal, Perfectionist
Career: Lawyer
Summary: After seeing how terrible your parent’s social skills are, you vow to never be like them. You spend your teen years desperate to be admired, throwing parties and keeping up with all the trends. You befriend and date some toxic people, and come out the other end a little traumatized, but overall a better person. You pursue a career in law, leaving your mischievous and crazy past behind you, but you still enjoy a good party now and then.
Rules: Complete the Admired Icon teen aspiration. Max the charisma, logic, and research & debate skills. Max the Law career in whichever branch you choose. You don’t have to get married and you can have as many children as you want.
Bonus: Use a color scheme of red, yellow, green, and blue. Have a toxic ex from your teen years. If you have the Extreme Violence mod, go crazy.
Gen #5: The Room Where It Happens
Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy
Traits: Ambitious, Genius, Self-Assured
Career: Politician
Summary: Your parent wanted to have a successful lineage, and you are determined to fulfill their wish. You want to make a positive change in the world, but your intelligence and ambition often intimidate people, so relationships aren’t always easy for you. You become a politician and pour yourself entirely into your career, finding seldom time for socialization and hobbies, but you don’t mind too much.
Rules: Max the Politician career, as well as the the charisma and writing skills. Complete the Fabulously Wealthy aspiration. Get married and have at least two children. Have an affair and win your spouse back.
Bonus: Use a color scheme of gold and black. Try to have as many kids as possible. Die in a stupid way.
one household, story driven sims legacy about raising children through nature, skill and intention - where every life begins in the same soil, but grows in its own direction.
the rooted paths legacy is a slow, intentional legacy focused on family, balance and quiet growth. there is no rush, no pressure to optimize - just living fully in each life stage, nurturing skills, relationships and routines. this challenge is about choosing care over chaos, presence over progress and allowing stories to unfold naturally over time.
this is not a typical legacy about heirs. it is a legacy about roots, knowledge and choice.
one home. one family. many paths.
the core philosophy.
- the legacy is played in one main household.
- the lot they live on is never abandoned again or sold.
- generations overlap: parents stay, teach and guide.
- children are not rushed out: moving out is a milestone moment, not a requirement.
- every sim has a purpose.
general rules.
- seasonal connection to nature: family must visit granite falls at least once per season (this can be a short retreat, a camping trip or a quiet escape - the goals is to stay rooted to nature and learn new skills)
- living with enough, not excess: if the household has more then §10,000, they must donate a portion of their money. wealth is never hoarded - it's shared.
- shared kindness: family members should actively help neighbors and friends in need whenever possible (offering financial help, caring for others, fixing things, gifting, emotional support or any small acts of kindness)
- mindful toddlerhood: toddlers must learn all toddler skills before aging up. their early years are slow, attentive and nurturing.
- prepared childhood: children must reach at least level 5 in their core skills before aging up. no rushing through childhood - growth happens steadily.
knowledge must be learned before it is passed on.
the founders.
create a married couple who choose to leave their old life behind and settle in moonwood mill (or any other woodsy, cottagecore world), purchasing an abandoned, unfurnished ranch.
they do not begin as masters.
they begin with belief, curiosity and resilience.
founders rule (very important).
- children may not be actively trained in a skill until at least one founder reaches level 7 in it
- skills are earned through lived experience, not rushed grinding
founders traits.
founder one: idealist, loves the outdoors, bookworm
founder two: loyal, loves the outdoors, good
founders goals.
- start with §0
- live off the land (no grocery buying)
- restore the ranch as you play
- have a big garden
- learn at least 5 herbal remedies
- reach §10,000 without careers (careers optional)
founders skills to master.
the founders must reach level 10 in:
- gardening
- herbalism
- natural living
- fishing
- handiness
- knitting
- wellness
- apothecary
these become the family’s sacred knowledge. only after this phase may children be fully mentored.
the rooted skills foundation (for children).
every child raised in the household must learn the same foundational skills - known as roots of life skills:
skills required for everyone:
- gardening
- natural living
- herbalism
- handiness
- knitting
- fishing
rules.
- each skill must reach level 7 minimum before a sim may move out
- parents (the founders) must mentor children weekly
- parents (the founders) remain involved teachers, not background sims
these skills represent survival, care and self-sufficiency.
the four rooted paths.
the founders raise four children under one roof.
each child grows from the same soil - but chooses a different path.
paths are callings, not rankings. no path replaces another.

path two - the homesteader.
theme.
comfort, nourishment, abundance
description.
the homesteader turns survival into warmth. through food, animals and routine, they make the ranch feel like home.
household role.

coming-of-age goals.

--- once milestone moment is completed
final thought.
every life begins in the same soil.
not every life grows the same way.
this is not a legacy about heirs.
it is a legacy about raising people well.

After working on this project for weeks, my personal edit of the original not so berry rules is done! I love all sorts of challenges, but sometimes I feel like challenges don’t get as much out of the ts4 game as they’re able to. So, I’ve decided to edit the original rules of the nsb challenge made by @lilsimsie and add more objectives + make the entire challenge more cohesive. I do have to mention that I did alter certain generations or gave them an entire overhaul but still all credit goes to lilsimsie for making the challenge to begin with!
