I was gonna post more today about how much I hate the Finale, but I don't think I'm gonna do that because OMG WTF people, sending Rachel Talalay threats (or anyone else involved in the production) is NOT OKAY.
I didn't think this whole shitshow could get more upsetting for me, but now it has. I feel so much more upset now.

I just think that the versions with all the trauma, suffering and history deserved a happy ending. I don’t think the take away should be that the only way to get a happy ending is for those things to have never happened to you.

Like, if you liked the ending I'm genuinely happy for you, but for the love of god PLEASE don't tell the people who were traumatized by it that our feelings aren't valid or there aren't legitimate reasons why people might be upset by it.

Y'know what really bothers me at the end of the day?
Crowley and Aziraphale agreeing to kill themselves *without specifying that they want to be reborn*. I could have accepted them being unmade if the writers had JUST put in a line like "but we want to be remade and included as humans in the new universe" before they agreed to be erased. (I still wouldn't have loved it, but I could have lived with that.)
Because like, clearly that was possible. So the writers could easily have had SOMEONE in the story point out that it was. The choice not to do so, to make Crowley and Aziraphale think they were dying forever, speaks volumes.
The writers went out of their way to show two queer characters killing themselves and thinking it was permanent (which it arguably was, given that they have not the smallest inkling of their prior identities, which again, was so blatantly unnecessary for so many reasons), and not only that, but doing it "because the universe and humanity will be better off without them".
That's the most homophobic storyline I've ever seen on television.
I'm so mad at people who said I should stick with GO because S3 would make S2 make sense.
Even leaving aside the controversy about the ending, the Finale left SO MANY questions from S2 unanswered. Far more than can be explained by the shortening.
I wish I'd just accepted post-S2 that a lot of stuff Gaiman changed/added doesn't make sense (and that he either didn't care about sorting it out in S3 or wasn't capable of doing so) and left it at that. It would have saved me soooooo much emotional energy.
Also, "Crowley and Aziraphale can't exist without God" is a super fucking weird message to send honestly
"The universe is better off without a higher power" is a perfectly fine message, but NOT important enough to justify having two beloved queer characters kill themselves.
And the fact that whoever TF came up with this ending thinks it was makes me question their moral framework.
No like fr Crowley's optimistic worldview in S1 stopped me from killing myself on multiple occasions, and what did they have him do?????? Kill himself.

Good Omens ending awfully so I can finally leave the fandom and this hyperfixation behind me hallelujah
6000 years. they'd been friends for 6000 years and spent the whole time pretending they weren't. they loved each other more than anything else in the universe and they only got a couple of years to live without heaven and hell breathing down their necks after saving the world. they didn't get any time at all to live together with everything out in the open. nightingales might have sang in berkeley square again but they weren't there to hear them. they never got to be an us. after all that.
It’s a day later and I’m still astounded by that writing choice, and I’m really irked by people defending it with, “Well not all stories have happy endings.” But the original book literally had one lol. S1/the book ended on a note so completely different from this that this giant tonal shift doesn’t fit with the rest of the show; plus, the more I think about it, the more this feels like a pointless exercise in misery. I’m not inherently opposed to tragedy in fiction (though, like I said, the book isn’t a supposed to be a tragedy), but I’ve never liked when something feels miserable just for the sake of being miserable, and that’s what their memories getting wiped and time ending that way in that universe feels like. It feels weirdly nihilistic. There were a million different ways to end it and no reason to end it that way. I’m going to be baffled about why they thought this was a good idea for…probably forever lol

The fact that Crowley and Azi had an entire roomful of Books of Life and didn't write themselves and the world a happier ending is the new piece of wood that was big enough for Jack and Rose.

I took a philosophy class in college and they taught us that the main thing that makes someone who they are is their memories. That if you lose all your memories, you feel like a completely different person.
Is that not true? Is there another way of looking at it?

One thing I keep thinking about is why Aziraphale and Crowley continued to exist even after Michael threw the Book of Life into the eternal flame. How did they continue to exist? Are they somehow outside the book? Did it not include them? Did their pages never burn?
