Think of the FUN Azriel and Gwyn could have together. The competitiveness? "We look forward to proving you wrong." You're not going to tell me Azriel didn't eat that shit up. Dude is going to love being challenged by her.

I want them to become friends who fall in love, before the bond even snaps into place. I adore that Gwyn feels safe and confident enough to gently bully and tease the fearsome Shadowsinger. I want it to stay that way. And I want Azriel to realize love isn’t conditional or some hopeless, painful, unrequited thing all the time. I don’t want his story to be some depressing, up and down bullshit, okay? I think he’s had enough of that. Both of them have. They deserve to have some fucking fun and feel loved and secure and safe. Azriel’s whole life has been about fighting and being uncomfortable, of course he thinks love should be as well. He will lose his fucking mind when he realizes it doesn't have to be that way.

I’m not saying the road to a happy ending for Gwynriel will be easy, they both have enough trauma for a lifetime (or to fill an entire book) but it is possible to have FUN while you heal together. Just saying.
