what starts off as a partnership by obligation turns into one by choice. maybe you don’t think of them that way at first, but after you realize that you two work incredibly well together, the feelings just… fall into place. of course it’s only natural that they should remain by your side. of course you would take risks to keep them safe, and they would do the same for you. you can’t imagine facing something without them now. it’s like they were always there. what’s more, the bond you’ve forged over the years is doubly strong for having made the sharing of mental and emotional states necessary. you’ve stuck with each other through the stress, the breakdowns, but also the victories, the laughs, the brief moments of frivolity. now those things come naturally. you know nobody more intimately. you are able to take care of each other. you can probably make it through anything. you have so far, at least, even if there were some losses along the way.

Something about them just gets under your skin. it’s not that they’re a bad person, but you’re *pretty sure* you hate them. above all, you NEED their attention on you at all times or else you become insanely jealous. whoa, but hey - hey - it’s ONLY because you’re just giving it back as good as you’re getting. if you quit now, they’ll think they’re better than you or something. Eventually, though, you realize that all that jealousy means something. and it’s a little bit heartbreaking. what are you supposed to do with all of these vulnerable emotions? this is NOT how you’re going to win anything against them. Luckily, a rival could also be called an equal match. your rival keeps up with you, and only exploits your weaknesses when it’s funny. of course they’ve been giving you that attention for a reason. anything to keep you interested in them, to chase that zing they feel in their gut after clashing wits with you. anything to give you some hint of what truly lies beneath all that big talk.

i think they’d have a very positive influence on each other. Hiro is pretty much honest and outgoing, and he’d help Chihiro come out of her shell a little. While classmates like Mondo or Sakura can help her be more assertive, Hiro would be there to make her talk a little more to the others, and maybe she’d be less shy around people!! Plus i think Chihiro would appreciate having someone as smart as him around, and if anyone says Hiro is dumb i’m going to bite them. Considering he was able to dismantle monokuma with little to no struggle, i think he’d be really interested in her knowledge, and that she’d have a good time talking about programming to him
