Magnusson Giuffre Coonley was born with a rare congenital heart disease on 2.28.10 at Banner Gateway Hospital in Gilbert, AZ. A sub-aortic stenosis (extra tissue below the aortic valve) prevented the blood from leaving the left ventricle and thickened it. Dr. Cleveland at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, performed open-heart surgery on 3.3.10. During surgery, he had to remove the aortic valve along with the excess tissue and replace it with a donor valve. By 8 months old, Magnusson outgrew the donor valve, and Dr. Cleveland performed a Ross Procedure on 11.10.10. This blog chronicles Magnusson's progress after his second surgery.
