The way Caped Crusader uses the Noir setting annoys me. It's just an aesthethic choice with no real impact to the story.
Batman is regular Batman, only he wears the 1939's suit for no reason. He still has The Cave, The Batmobile or Alfred; stuff that didn't come until much later. It would have been interesting to see Bruce starting as a regular vigilante and growing into classic Batman. A Batman that uses guns and needs to learn to value life, and meets Alfred later in life.
And there's also the whitewashing of history. When Renee Montoya was introduced in the mid 90s, women could be cops, but she still faced a lot of backlash (when her sexuality was made public she was disowned by her parents). Intolerance is a part of what makes the character, and the show acts as if the 40s where this beautiful place of equality. I would had liked to see a Renee Montoya in a time where women couldn't be cops (especially POC/Queer women). Or a black Jim Gordon being a regular cop, and rising up trough the ranks thanks to Batman's help.
