@ofthexdream liked [+] for a teen drama starter.
David tilts his head, taking another mental scan of his surroundings. Making sure no one is watching him. With a satisfied hum the teenager turns his gaze to the wall he stands beside, a wall at the back of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. He runs his fingers over the bricks until those fingers slot inside one certain brick. An illusory brick. One made by him to appear and feel very real unless David himself touches it or someone else he’s allowed to access this little hidey hole.
He pulls out a box and flips up its lid to reveal a bag of dried marijuana and a few rolled joints. David takes a joint and shoves the box back into its hole. He leans back against the wall, slotting the joint between his lips.
Come on, dude, whines Cyndi, still providing David access to their pyrokinetics so he can light the weed. I wasn’t that annoying.
“You wanted us to burn down the fuckin’ classroom,” David hisses around the smoke huffed out through his teeth. “And weren’t letting up. Hence the panicked teleportation out of said classroom and now the weed. I need you an’ everyone else to fuckin’ mellow out.”
Psh, can’t take a joke.
David rolls his eyes and takes a good, long drag on his joint. He closes his eyes and leans into the mellow calm seeping into his mind. He feels it as the marijuana does the job, feels as it makes his alters sluggish and sleepy. Much better. Easier to deal with. Even if he does soon find himself getting uncharacteristically hungry.
It also fucks with his own focus, his own awareness. Which is why he’s surprised when he hears someone come around the corner. Which is why he jerks away from the wall and why eyes widen when they lock on Tabitha Smith, the lit joint still in his hand.
“Fuck,” he grunts, grimacing.
A.) go to school tomorrow so I can see my friend and keep my streak of not missing school this year BUT everyone hates me
B.) I don’t go to school so I don’t have see people and I’m not constantly in worry that everyone hates me BUT risk of truancy
Hmmm tough choices, tough choices….
violet harmoned too hard and now i’m getting filed for truancy..
guess who got called down to the guidance office for truancy again?

I'm reading the Adachi and Shimamura series and I've got to know, do truancy officers exist in Japan (and the world) or are they solely an American thing we've come up with to torture kids who are disabled, poor, of color, or otherwise vulnerable and disenfranchised?
He has a badge and a gun — and he investigates school truancy
When students miss lots of school without an excuse, it’s known as truancy — and in Madison County, Ind., it can lead to a visit from truanc
NPR is treating it like it's a good thing that a county in Indiana has an armed former policeman making home calls to perpetrators of an entirely non-violent crime that, due to systemic racism, are largely people of color. The bodycam footage of Sonya Massey being murdered in cold blood was just released last week and that was just latest example in a long line of prominent cases where police have murdered people of color in America. NPR is just peak liberal apologia masquerading as progressive (for USAmerica) independent media.
Have read the latest chapter of The Room Next Door by @verukamtl and had some YR S2 re-watch at the weekend.
And I wondered again that Simon's repeated truancy is not mentioned once. Only the choir teacher is addressing him being late at first day. While Wilhelm "only" misses the book presentation and the school immediately contacts his parents/ the Court. Now I ask myself whether this is because Wille is the crown prince or because Simon is too unimportant. Or maybe both.
