Don’t Care + Having Fun + Playing

i actually do love the part of tlg where they're horrible communicators bc it's so true to who they already are in hr. like ilya truly will deflect most of the time when it's about something really vulnerable to him, and shane will rely on kind of blunt questions in order to get a grasp on what's going on. and it's not that shane is not attentive of him, bc he tries to ask what's going on with him a lot and he can tell that he's not really okay, but he does get stuck when ilya isn't honest with him. and it's not that ilya wouldn't do absolutely anything for shane, it's just that admitting a genuinely hurt feeling to him is basically his number one nightmare. and this just means that they'll try a lot but still be out of step, which is how they get to the giant boxing day fight. BUT the sweetness of the story i think is that they also love each other and that all of that love comes with the willingness to learn and to keep showing up to the table for this. like they aren't a perfect match in the sense that it's all just smooth, but dammit they WILL learn bc most of all they want to be with each other!!
