I don't take anime opinions on this web site seriously, but one of the funnier recurring things on this site is people being like "this anime is SO BAD the dude wants to be SO EDGY this show is just TORTURING LITTLE KIDS" and then you look into the show and it's actually a nuanced complex story with a lot of big interesting themes, one of which is often that the mistreatment of children is wrong.

Like most left-wing Usamericans have no problem understanding ACAB. They would be outraged if someone came into their home and destroyed the place, killed their family and took their stuff and they were then asked to have sympathy for the perpetrator. The reasons they cannot apply this logic to US military personnel is because they're not conceptualizing global southerners as real people with interiority who are being subjected to atrocities in the name of US interests, they only think of them as vague figures in moral thinking experiments that concerns poor little Usamericans (the only Real People) that are forced to do bad things to them.

i appreciate that "do it scared" is something that exists as a phrase and it has personally helped me a lot. however we must understand the difference between scared as in "i'm nervous meeting new people/what if i fail" and Scared as in "i might get hatecrimed"

"do it scared" to someone nervous about trying painting for the first time is reasonable if trite, "do it scared" to someone talking about how they feel they can't exist in public without potentially getting murdered makes you sound like a massive prick.
