Hey, this is basically a tracker for the various projects I have, their completion status, and their tags to check them out on my blog

In progress:

Honey Bee Cloak- both layers completely sewn, working on blackwork embroidery

Dark Copper Diamond Dress-have fabric and ideas

On hold:

Dark blue camp dress- in progress-need to sew the seams for the second sleeve and then hem it

Lilac camp dress- finished? I might add decoration

Navy Overdress- seams sewn, need to hem, add grommets, and embroider

Worked on the bee cloak embroidery a little and also did a practice test for a scroll idea

I do wish I had better control of ink thickness

Got restless waiting my my homemade ice cream to finish chilling, so I started the actual scroll

I may screw it all up once it comes to actually inking it, but so far the sketching looks good? I don't really know how to draw, so I'm actually pretty pleased how the birds turned out

Continued with the bird scroll (should I make a specific tag for that?)

First, I decided i wanted less white space, so I added some more vines around the letter and some diapering (yes, it's really called that) to thr background of the birds

And then, moment of truth, started to ink!

I'm actually pretty pleased with how it turned out. I still have to ink the rest obviously, plus color, but I'm giving my hands a break

Me usually: I think it’s really cool how historically, garments would be mended when they broke rather than just thrown out. I can’t wait to do that to my reenactment garments!

Did a practice scribble of an illuminated letter L in my sketchbook today. It turned out alright. So I might start planning for an actual scroll blank. Of course I may test out a few other designs before I try it on the good Bristol paper

And final update!

At the same event I got the scribal kit, I also picked up this gorgeous fabric. And for free!

I plan to made an open skirt overdress from it. Possibly with some beading. We shall see

Second to last update, promise.

I also picked up a new hobby last weekend. An event i was at held a scribal salon where they were giving away beginner scribal kits. And here's the thing, I've also be impressed by the scrolls the sca makes, but also, intimidated. You see, I'm not very artistic so people who can draw and do calligraphy, just wow.

But I've also been trying to remind myself that you can enjoy things you're not great at, so i tried and made my very first scroll blank!

It was SO much fun! So i took the kit home and I've been playing around and making more scroll blanks (calligraphy is still beyond me)

So there's a scribal tag now

I am still working on the embroidery for the bee cloak, but I'm completely done with the main vine and starting the bees!

In terms of some smaller updates, I got some more kumihimo done, including my heraldic sock garters and test swatches for my melee company's heraldry and that of some friends

I also added trim to some of my otherwise plain skirts

I also learned to weave and dye at some university workshops!

I finally finished the bliaut, juuuuust in time for my kingdom's coronation which i was super happy about (it did mean I was frantically embroidering grommets the night before)

But I got pictures of the finished dress at the event!

Second update, right as Joanns was closing. I got this gorgeous copper fabric.

I decided I wanted to make a bliaut out of it, so I needed to pick a contrasting sleeve fabric, which actually led me to digging out two old tablecloths I bought from goodwill 6 years ago, and i had been on and off debating de-stashing

I ended up picking the lighter one.

And on a different note, I now feel justified in never throwing away fabric! Hah!

So i sewed the whole thing together using a pattern I found for free online, and then did the grommets for the side lacing by hand

Final result to follow!

First update, I finished the watermelon dress! I actually finished it last fall, almost year ago actually. Anyway, I love it so much.

honestly yeah, fiber arts is magic. you cast spell of warm gloves, spell of nice hat, spell of stuffed animal.

material component: yarn

wand: single hooked wand or double pointed wands, depending on caster's preference

mechanical component: specific motions repeated in a particular pattern

time component: a while

look seriously the first step in a knitting recipe is "cast on", and then it's a bunch of letters and numbers incomprehensible to anyone not versed in the arcane art. that's a spellbook. yes it's a book of knitting patterns but also. it's a spell book.
