Tadc episode 9 SPOILERS
So I finally saw it. Holy fucking shit.
The real Jax being shut behind a boarded up door, every cruel persona he’s constructed united in their hatred of him.
The anxious part of himself that’s barely tolerated so long as he shuts up and lets the others control him giving Pomni the key. She waits a second expecting Jax to come with her before the camera pans down to the chain. He’s too scared himself but something in him badly needs that door to be opened again.
The entire flashback being in first person until the memory with Ribbit. The camera slowly drifting into third person as he can’t quite bring himself to fully say what it was he told his mom, to Ribbit who was there then or Pomni who’s here now, but he doesn’t have to. Ribbit understands, and finds a way to show him without saying it out loud.
There’s a hand reaching out, a bow, a flushed face, then the close ups end and… there she is. All of her in frame through Pomni’s eyes. She wanted someone to see her again.
Then the abrupt cut back to first person as she throws the bow to the ground, and proceeds to ruin every opportunity she has to accept the love she’s offered because being happy in this way is terrifying. Her looking in the mirror to taunt herself is the only time we see her face again in this sequence.
Her at the end of things crying that she doesn’t want to go because maybe things could be different this time. She sees everything she could be in a brilliant light and wants suddenly to live more than anything, but it’s too late. She doesn’t get that second chance, but she didn’t want to die with no one knowing who she was.
