Current Series: crossroads - a gap-filler series. one-shots, but you'll get more out of it if you read them in sequence. Dean, Cas, and the spaces between what we did and didn't see.

Current WIP: Let Love In - What if Dean kissed Cas after he came back from the Empty at the beginning of Tombstone? How would that effect the entire trajectory of s13/14/15? Mostly Dean POV with some guest stars.

I'm always working on something. Posting schedule has been fairly regilar - usually the wee nether-hours of Thursday into Friday. Might be crossroads, might be LLIn - I reserve the right to take a break or surprise y'all now and then.

Subtext: Dean went to see a dom.

There's a subtle bit with him looking at his watch in the scene where Sam is trying to get him to go to the Clam Diver. Like he's concerned about the time. like he's planning to be somewhere. The show almost never shows Dean looking at his watch. So, why, in this scene? With what happens after? Casual viewers are like "he got wasted at a strip club". Except, there's a flail on the floor next to him in the scene where he's passed out.

Head canon/potentially actual canon: Dean goes to see doms when he's hitting rock bottom.

Reminder that Dean prepared Cas’ body for a funeral pyre on his own. Then he took Cas’ ashes and tried to find the perfect spot for them, under a windmill, and scattered them there, all while not even being able to say that Cas was dead

a while ago i saw a post about someone's head casnon that i think a lot about. i'm sorry. i can't find the post.

basically, it goes that sam and dean have two shovels in Baby's trunk, you know. for digging graves. one of the shovels is the "good" shovel, and the other one is the "shitty" shovel. theu have little spats over who gets which one every time they have to dig. they rock, paper, scissors over it. they make little jokes and bets. sometimes. on bad hunts, they have physical altercations.

whoever wrote that, please know, i think about that like once a week.

also, i think about how cas would deal with this whole thing - i think he'd evenyually get so frustrated that he'd just ban them both from diffing and just do it himself and dean would... be fine with it... for reasons.

sometimes i think about a version where dean knew not only about the deal but also what will trigger it so he and cas start hooking up and NOT talking about their feelings. it is not emotionally or physically fulfilling or satiating sex AT ALL but it’s more than they’ve ever had before. this is the most selfish thing dean’s ever done, being with cas (sort of) while manipulating him and breaking both their hearts the entire time. because it means cas will stay. ouroboros of misery.

they’ll hook up and dean will immediately leave afterwards. dean only kisses cas when cas has NOTHING else going for him. maybe when jack is gone or something. one time they forget everything about the loaded gun that’s always pointed at them and start to have fun and get close to experiencing actual joy when cas panics so dean starts to rip into him. dean would initiate this whole thing by being like this is just for fun it means nothing to me lol. you’re just convenient (meanwhile internally he’s thinking i hate myself i hate myself i hate myself but i need this so badly.) and cas just goes along with it, still terrified so he’s completely closed off during all their interactions pleading…if i can lock my heart from him and not be present in our time together maybe i’ll get to be with him again.

This because obviously Cas is Bert.

And.

tumblr is my safe space, so. When I was a kid, I knew I was like Bert.

Then by the time I was teenager, I figured he was queer - another way I was like Bert. And I was happy that Bert had Ernie because I figured that meant that, hey, it's possible to find your people.

And then, 13 years ago when I was 30, marriage equality passed in the US and this issue of the New Yorker showed up in my mailbox, and the cover made me cry.

And actually, I'm kinda on the fence about marriage (for me - not equal rights), but this image still makes me cry - because I love Bert (and by extension, Cas and everyone "like us") and I just want him (us) to be happy, and seen, and appreciated.

It's the 13th anniversary of this cover, by the way.

Here's to all the Berts.

May we find our Ernies (romantic, platonic, or otherwise).
