stepped out with my pups this morning to find this hibiscus (she’s not quite awake yet)
I am not familiar with this monstera plant, it is supposedly rare- the price on it is $70. An employee at Home Depot brought it to my attention. She keeps up with all the rare and newest trend of plants. I’ve never given it much thought. I either like it or I don’t - although there are not many plants I don’t like… I have to say I was stunned at the price on it.
She also pointed out that not all these plants on the front endcap are the same $70 plant I need to be educated because I couldn’t tell the difference. I’ll have to go back and revisit that conversation.
my first sighting of a tiger swallowtail this season at work - it was so busy it was hard to capture all the markings on this beauty
The one pomegranate on my pomegranate tree :/

a pretty little flower that can take the heat
😋
Nothing new here - a little rearranging to fill in and swap a few things out. The pink hibiscus needed to be closer to the water hose in the Garden Center, for some reason they are drying out quicker than the red ones. I also added buddleia (butterfly bush) to the table of echinacea, since most have been sold, and I moved cannas where the pink hibiscus were and crotons where the balloon flowers were. I’ve had buddleia for a couple weeks now and it actually looks better than it did when it came in since it’s had time to grow, and keeping it deadheaded encourages more blooms. *I did have to slow my pace and drink lots of water but all and all It was a good day. 🥵
I have a wild clematis growing in my backyard - a couple years ago it was infested with aphids but there were also many ladybugs and their offspring on it. (I wasn’t sure what they were.) I wish I would have saved more photos of the different stages of metamorphosis they went thru. Very unusual. Then I found a praying mantis on it, and for the mantis it was a smorgasbord! All I could do was let nature take its course. About a week later the aphids were gone but so were the ladybugs 😞.
Nature has a way of taking care of itself.
the last 5 photos are the ones I took of these strange little beings

a bit of a glare from the morning sun on the little fella …
natures confetti falls after the rain
Red, yellow, and orange single bloom echinacea with double blooming red echinacea… the red hibiscus (a little shy about their blooms) backed up by the minty smell of yellow agastache
Mondays are what we call “recover day” at work. So after everything was “put back”, watered and organized I took a few photos, and I’m glad I did because we had a humongous storm just after I finished - thunder, lightening, with strong winds and heavy rain. I hope there wasn’t too much damage, the storm was pretty bad. Guess I’ll find out Wednesday when I’m scheduled to go back.

I tried to get a clear pic of one of the many fiery skipper butterflies on the buddleia davidii plants (or butterfly bush) - I can see why they’re called “skippers”. While using my video mode this guy popped out of the pot at one of them - it was the very second I stopped the camera. Woulda been cool to get that shot. He missed by the way.
