As Ferris and Sloane kiss in front of a stained-glass window, Cameron concentrates on George Seurat’s painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”. Explaining the pointillist style — and moviemanking, teenage angst and adult insecurity — Hughes says, “I always thought this painting was sort of like making a movie, the pointillist style,” he says. “You don’t have any idea what you’ve made until you step back from it. … The closer he looks at the child, the less he sees. I fell in love with Miss Fame and Violet the second I saw them at the MiuMiu Party in Paris during last Couture. I’m always very picky concerning hair, make up and style when it comes to glamour but I was amazed to see how they had already mastered all the codes for their young age. I approached them that night: they were genuine, adorable and unpretentious without knowing I was a photographer - otherwise I would never have offered them to shoot for Candy Magazine. Luis , in his eternal wisdom, believed in the project and… voilà! They were visions, now they are friends.
