Hi everyone! Thank you for the warm welcomes (and welcome backs)! I'm Ruby, and this time around I'll be writing for Calypso's emo main dancer, main rapper and vocalist Lux! They're a bit of a sadboi but I love them anyway, and I hope you will too! I'll leave some bullets on them below, and you're free to check out the pages linked below for a more complete look at them! Please feel free to drop a like on this post so I know you’re interested in plotting!
Bio | Stats | Profile | Plots
Born and raised in Songkhla, Thailand by a construction worker father and a soup kitchen-running mother
The elder of two, their younger brother is referred to mostly as Ice
Lux's childhood nickname was actually Milk, and they wanted it to be their stage name, but DMS said it lacked ✨Star Quality✨
The family was poor - never to the point of starvation, but they hardly had what one would call a disposable income.
The family's financial situation made it mean all the more when, on their tenth birthday, they were gifted a secondhand guitar.
Lux was scouted while in Bangkok for a cousin's wedding. They confessedly spent more of the celebratory period jamming out with locals than with their family, but it evidently paid off. They were thirteen when they were shipped off to Korea, dreaming of producing their own music and writing lyrics that rang true for their life experience.
What they got was... well, less than their ideal, to put it lightly.
Their compositions were rejected, ignored, or "shelved for later" even once they made it into Calypso, which made them big mad when they knew the quality of their work was better than much of what Calypso was putting out.
Their time finally came, however, when Calypso's concept switched from girly to sexy. They produced and composed a ton of Calypso's music from then on. Find details here.
They would also go on to feature on Selene's Ahh Oop, write the melody for Polaris' DNA and Ultraviolet's Whistle, and compose and produce Quantum's Chained Up.
They're autistic which is something they're proud of if touchy about - it's not common knowledge.
They're a bicon and nonbinary - they use they/he pronouns.
Music positively consumes them - they obsess over it, and while they have their favorite genres they're not the type to dump on any specific sound as "not real music".

setting: crowned round three filming 27th august, late night, house of diamonds, on camera
with: @luxfmd
when told to link up in pairs of two for their stay on the lakeside trip, yena had been quick to cling to lux’s side, hanging off his arm and batting her lashes as sweetly as possible to convince her fellow member to pretty, pretty please be her roommate. not because she had something against the other calypso members but her and lux, they had always had a special connection, attached at the hip since the moment yena was introduced in calypso. their friendship had only gotten stronger over the years, and more notorious too.
there wasn’t much of that chaotic energy present in the moment though, winded down for bed for the night ahead of the live performance, the finale, the next day. yena had to admit she was more a bundle of nerves than anything else. staring up at the ceiling, she huffed in frutration, before flipping over onto her stomach and turning her head in lux’ direction, cheek smushed against the sheets as she looked at them. “do you think we’ll do well tomorrow?” yena asked, her voice a tad more frail than she would usually be comfortable. “do you think we practiced enough? and that everyone will like the stage? do you think they’ll like the stage outfits?” a beat of silence as she quietly pouted to herself. “i just really wanna don’t wanna mess up everything.”
sometimes lux wondered what had lent to him and yena’s closeness. they were compatible, of course, but yena was the type that could belong to any crowd. was it that they’d been added to calypso at the same time? was it as simple as being two of the most junior members of the group? in the end, it didn’t matter. yena was someone special - one of the rare few people allowed to be affectionate with lux physically, and a great match for them besides. they were peas in a pod, so to speak.
honestly, while lux would have liked to win the finale, he wasn’t feeling the same pressure as yena. it wasn’t his song, nor his choreography, nor his styling. he would go out onstage and give his most convincing summer queen impression, but that was all he could do. giving yena a reassuring look for her troubles, he pondered for a moment. “you know as well as i do that we practiced as much as humanly possible. we could do this stage in our sleep at this point.” he said with certainty. “i think this is what’s been working for us - this summer concept. this is what the people want to see.” the latter sentence was said with some distaste. the summer concept wasn’t revolutionary by any means, but it was firmly outside lux’s ability to write, and they didn’t particularly enjoy singing about being carefree when they were anything but. still, putting aside their petty concerns for the moment, they offered a grin. “of course they’re going to like the outfits. they’re unique, but they fit the song perfectly. and if i thought for a second you were screwing up, you know i’d tell you.”

@calypsoofficial: we’re gonna be summer queens! thank you to everyone, but especially our beloved maknae. you worked hard yenny-ssi, and i love you for it. please tune into our final performance on crowned and enjoy the show! #lux

↳@yennyslay: and their foreheads!!! they gays are eating well tonight!
↳@dancelineyerin: tbh lux looks better with bangs but they’re pretty
@duriseyesnoselips: congrats! too bad you’ll never beat titan in the final round ♥
↳@durihonoraryggmember: don’t you know duri is friends with calypso? he and lux worked together on monster, plus duri wrote chi mat ba ram for them all and you can see him talking to yenny all the time... don’t start fanwars when they’re friends.
↳@cgirlsareback: not saying you’re wrong, genuinely asking - is there a source for them working on monster together?

headcanons: gender, sexuality, and neurodivergence.
summary: a look at lux as a nonbinary autistic bisexual
tw: implied homophobia, ableism
word count: 681
gender:
lux’s relationship with gender was always complicated.
while they didn’t outright reject the feminine, they always found masculinity more appealing, and androgyny outright alluring.
while their early influences could be traced back to david bowie, at that time it was more about emulating an icon than gender euphoria.
the first time they felt genuinely seen was when they listened to the hedwig and the angry inch soundtrack. they were 19 at the time, and the first and probably most important song that struck them was, naturally, the origin of love. before they knew what nonbinary was, they identified as a child of the moon.
the other song that they related to was wig in a box. they would, in gay company at least, go on to refer to the feminine styling and the like that they were more or less forced into by the company as drag.
viewing femininity and the performance thereof as an artform made it more tolerable to them. they weren’t a liar or denying their truth, they were an artist.
sexuality:
lux’s sexuality has always been relatively clear to them.
guys are hot, girls are hot, nonbinary people are hot. if you’re hot, you’re hot, basically.
they haven’t really dated much as they got into dimensions as a 13 year old, but there have been a few significant people (headcanons on that coming soon).
honestly they wish they’d dated more so they could have more lyric inspiration but it is what it is.
something that helped with the clarity and probably the reason why they were able to accept it so easily was that in thailand, homosexuality is pretty accepted, at least outwardly.
it was impossible not to know a gay or ten, and helping their mother in the soup kitchen introduced them to a fair few. they noted the sense of community they seemed to have amongst themselves, and as much as some regarded them as inexcusably other, lux knew they felt more comfortable in their presence than most.
neurodivergence:
lux was actually diagnosed as autistic fairly late - they were nearing 18, and had been in korea for years at that point.
it made a lot of sense all things considered, and their therapist was eager to give them all the resources she could.
while they consider themselves rather emotional, others seem to find them cold and standoffish - not because they genuinely are, but because their expression of emotion is different from others.
their lifelong special interest has always been music - in their younger days they’d listen to it for hours on end, noting the chord progressions, the percussion, the way a singer’s voice could either fit perfectly into a melody or contrast all other components of the song.
they’re still enamored with music - obsessed with it, really. they can’t imagine doing anything else professionally, and much of their spare time is spent sorting their album collection, creating music, and listening to it.
they’re rather touch-averse, and as such things like hi-touches and fanmeets can be hard for them.
they stim often. handflapping is generally reserved for when they’re alone due to their parents insisting from a young age that it was annoying. they also quite like fidget toys their fidget cube is a favorite of theirs, but their top favorite would have to be their chewy necklace - they’ve had many in the past, but at the moment the lego style is their favorite.
their least favorite type of stim toys are slimes and anything with a gummy/slick texture, because the stickiness and sliminess that tends to come with these icks them tremendously.
in general, their diagnosis gives them something of an understanding about why they’ve always felt so different from others. they find it unfortunate that they can’t publicly speak on it, because they feel it would be good for other autistic people to see celebrities like them, but at the same time they aren’t really certain they’re the best role model anyway. they’re still learning to navigate the world as an autistic person, and aren’t sure they’d want the added pressure.

why did your muse become an idol?
lux became an idol because, upon being scouted, they pictured it being an easy “in” to the music industry. unfortunately for him, it wasn’t especially easy, and even when he debuted, it was a while before calypso made music they were remotely involved in.
what does your muse think of their company and their group?
lux has something of a complicated relationship with dimensions entertainment. on the one hand, some of the music they made calypso put out early on is downright unforgivable, but on the other, he’s aware that some companies would have never allowed them to have as much of a hand in group releases as he’s had with calypso since the concept switch. to some degree, he believes a lot of the reason he’s been allowed to contribute so much is due to dimensions simply being too lazy or cheap to actively look for music for calypso when he was perfectly capable and willing to produce and compose for them, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was his ultimate goal to be involved with the creation of music when he joined the company.
calypso is much simpler - after so long together, lux has a strong fondness for his groupmates and enjoys the familiarity he has with them.
is your muse on their first contract or their second? if they’ve renewed, what were their feelings around that at the time and what were their hopes for their second contract? if they haven’t renewed, what are their current thoughts on the end of their eventual first contract?
lux is on his second contract with dimensions entertainment. he genuinely considered not renewing, but once the other calypso members made their intentions clear, he didn’t have the heart to leave the group. he hoped dimensions would continue to use his music for calypso (which they did) and that calypso would be given more attention, budget, and better songs (their own compositions notwithstanding).
what are your muse’s goals, ambitions, and motivations?
lux’s goals include writing lyrics that hit close to home for their life experience, producing more songs, and continuing to compose. ambitions include a song of theirs getting big (technically achieved through their work for other groups, but they want it for calypso), as well as launching a solo career that differs from their identity in calypso. motivations include their family and their love for music.
what moments or people in your muse’s life are or have been the most impactful and/or the most important to them?
their mother has always been a thoughtful, intelligent, and hardworking person. while their relationship has been somewhat strained in recent months, he still loves and admires her greatly.
his father was the person who indulged his passions. while things are kind of rough right now as lux is carrying a lot of guilt for not being able to visit home and care for his father, he has a deep love for the man.
his members are, for better or worse, essentially a built-in circle. while he gets along well with yena and rather likes her, the others are subject to plotting.
what are five of your muse’s favorite things? feel free to expand on why this is and/or how these became their favorite things.
the guitar they got for their tenth birthday. while they’ve upgraded since and actually prefer playing bass these days, it’s the instrument with the most sentimental value to them.
his music collection. while he has digital versions of nearly everything he’s interested in, his physical collection is his pride and joy. from gorillaz to the eagles to little-known russian pop-punk, he’s made sure to have copies of his favorite albums that can’t be wiped from devices.
their studio. while their accommodations are relatively modest, they splurged for a two-bedroom apartment and turned the second bedroom into a studio. this is where most of their music has been composed since 2015, and has helped tremendously with their output.
his noise-cancelling headphones. idol life can be hectic, especially recently as calypso has gained popularity. sometimes it’s nice just to be able to close his eyes, put on some music, and get away from everything and get lost in the music, if only for a little while.
their combat boots. there’s a certain power that comes with being heard coming, and they enjoy it immensely. while they’re typically styled in heels, they’re much happier in stompers than stilettos.
what is one conflict, internal or external, that your muse is currently dealing with, has recently dealt with, or will need to deal with in the future?
this has been touched on already, but definitely their father’s illness and the can of worms that comes with it. from having to deal with the realization of how far from home they really are, to the estrangement from their family, to their genuine concern and worry for their father’s health, it’s a lot to live with.
on a lighter note, there’s also the fact that calypso’s viral hit wasn’t written by him, despite him having had a hand in the majority of their title tracks in recent years. he doesn’t even like summer songs in particular, but with the success of rollin’, it seems to be all dimensions intends to push for the group.
if your muse has established career claims, what are their thoughts on their career so far? if they do not, how do they feel about not having individual activities yet? what would they like to do in the future, if anything? if they don’t have ambitions for individual activities, explain why.
with the exception of their feature on selene’s ahh oop, all of lux’s claims have been of the creative variety. while they’ve focused largely on production and composing, there are a couple of lyrics claims in there as well. while i intend to go more in depth in the future on a track-by-track basis, i think it’s fair to say that they’re proud of their work for calypso as well as for polaris, ultraviolet, titan and quantum.
she nodded her head, ;laughing at the poke and lux’s words. “i don’t know how i became the leader. no one should give me that much power.” but she would do her best to help put on a great stage. and not drag lux down. “rap stage? i’m good with that.” she knew fans would expect it but that was the beauty of it, being able to do rap outside of candy. and it was either rap or singing.
“but i also had all bases covered, at least now i can narrow down the selection even more.” she had brought her bag out with her, pulling her laptop out of it. it didn’t take long for kami to get everything set up. “for rap songs…” she started to scroll, “if we go with that vibe but korean songs, i thought of lily’s back or this song called phone number, it’s from the early 200′s but before i continue on, any suggestion’s from you?’
Oh? Lux quirked a brow, but didn't inquire further. Kami would tell them in due time, they supposed. At her thanks, they let a smile slip - not the smirk they were accustomed to wearing, but a real smile. Bright, genuine, and a little awkward on their usually schooled features. "Of course. You're my favorite hoobae, after all." Was all they said with a bit of a shrug, but one could tell they were happy with how seriously Kami seemed to be taking the unit. They were sure that, like them, she saw it as a chance to let her colors show outside the parameters usually set by her group. "Of course it will be, we're in it." Careful not to boast too much, Lux stuck to cautious optimism over outright cockiness.
"The censored version of kiss me more is pretty good. Maybe we look into that?" Lux offered. Honestly they weren't sure of what other clean versions of international artists served cunt rather than kidz bop.
how do you feel about how you and your group performed?
“i think we performed well. while i feel the concept we went for was a little over the top for a classic like hush, there’s a degree of camp there that i enjoy. i hope at the very least we make selene proud.”
do you have any regrets about the stage?
“again, i feel the concept was a bit much, though it was fun.”
how will you take what you learned from this performance into the next round?
“i suppose what exactly we learn will remain to be seen, but i think it’ll be a good experience any way the wind blows. either our performance fares poorly and we rethink the concepts we’ll use in coming rounds or we do well and i rethink my take on what’s ‘too much.’”
how do you think you’ll fare in the rankings for your performance?
“i’m unsure. i doubt we’ll be in the bottom, simply because i think beyond the concept we performed well, but i see other performances outranking us as well. if i had to say, i’d put us somewhere in the middle.”
which group’s performance (other than your own group) was the strongest?
“i think polaris takes that mantle. ultraviolet’s kill this love was already a banger, and their performance was stunning. theatrical, dark, and absolutely gorgeous. i can’t discuss excellence without mentioning lily’s stage as well, though - the concept was perfect for the song, and they delivered onstage. there were a lot of strong performances this round.”
which group’s performance was the weakest?
“in my personal opinion, it was titan’s cover of fire. i felt it lacked a climax, but it wasn’t a bad performance by any means. titan always delivers vocals, the rapping was good, i just felt it didn’t really stack up to some of the other performances.”

content warnings: body talk (not necessarily shaming, but they sound incredibly tone deaf).
equinox songhow do you feel about how you and your unit performed?
“i feel kami and i gave it our all and really put on a good show. i didn’t realize it when we formed our unit, but she matches my passion perfectly. i couldn’t have chosen a better duet partner, and i genuinely had fun onstage. i can’t sing kami’s praises enough, honestly.”
which unit’s performance (other than your own unit) was the strongest?
“i’d say kiana and haon’s dance performance. it was unexpected to me for that performance to be my favorite, considering i’m very much a music person - i loved seeing what everyone did with the vocal covers. still, as a dancer - if only by position - myself, their control in particular had my jaw on the floor. their chemistry is incredible, and i’m fairly certain either or both could dance circles around me even on my best day. they genuinely have me interested in seeing what i’m capable of myself, despite always having viewed dancing as a simple expression of music. they did more, they embodied the song, they were vulnerable, they were magical. it was genuinely moving, and not something i’ll forget soon.”
which unit’s performance was the weakest?
“honestly? the juice unit. juice is about being a big beautiful baddie - being juicy, if you will. it’s something i can’t see either of the performers relating to. i won’t pretend i do either - i’m a twig, i’m aware. that’s just the way i interpret it, though. my other complaint is that neither really lived up to lizzo in terms of vocals. it was sonically appealing, certainly, but if i’m being picky, picky, picky~” they trail off, singing the equinox song before facing the camera again with a smile. “i am, for the record. the performance was well worth a watch - neither vocalist has the strength required to make it feel like more than a cover. there was nothing about it that made my jaw hit the floor and think to myself that they’d outdone the original. with all that being said, i like it for what it is. it’s cute, they had good energy. it’s worth noting that i’m a fan of both performers, so while i’m aware i’ve said probably more than my piece here, it really is just a read. i hope they’re just as catty when it comes time to pick apart our performance.”
how do you feel on your group’s final ranking from the first round?
“i feel pretty good about it. we were the highest ranking girl group, which feels significant.” calling their own group a girl group was a tad awkward, at least in their mind, due to them... well, not identifying as a girl. still, they knew they’d have to be stupid not to point it out. anything for that little bit of clout, they supposed. “i’m hoping we’ll do even better this round, though.”
what are your thoughts on the artist and song you’re covering?
“selene is an amazing group, and i’m very excited to have the opportunity to perform hush. it’s a sonically stunning song, so please trust that calypso will do our best to respect the original while still putting our own spin on the performance.”
what do you intend to do differently this round from the first round?
“i think that after seeing everything the other groups had to offer last round, our focus from now on will be delivering unique concepts and strong performances. while there’s a lot of stage presence on the show, i think it’s genuinely one of our strong suits. hopefully i’m proven right.”
how have rehearsals been going?
“they’ve been going.” though they’re tempted to leave it there, they choose to elaborate. “with a song like hush, there’re so many different ways the concept could go, so at first that was our focus, almost more than the performance itself. once we nailed down what the performance would look like, though, it was easy to pick up the song and perform it to the best of our ability. not because it’s an easy song to perform, but because it’s always been such a favorite of mine, it comes almost naturally.” truth be told, they were excited for hush, but not for the concept the group had landed on.
after the first round, who do you predict will win the show (other than your own group)?
“i absolutely can’t pick just one, i’m sorry, but it’s got to be either titan or quantum. they both put on such a stunning show, and it was truly incredible to watch both performances. if they carry on like that, they’ll be neck in neck for the crown.”
[muses in units only] tell us about your unit and how preparation has been going.
“i’ll be performing a rap unit with candy’s kami! preparations are going well, and i’m finding that we work really well together.”
she nodded her head, ;laughing at the poke and lux’s words.
“you’re the leader because i trust you to allow us both to put our best foot forward. your style is something of a mystery to me, so i wanted to make sure you were in charge so you could ensure you were good with every decision we made without feeling like you were stepping on my toes.” lux explained, rolling their shoulders back. “i would have tried my best, of course, but this just makes sense to me.”
“oh, i love lily, and i know phone number - jinusean, right?” lux questioned, then paused, pondering the question. “as much as i’d like to keep both those options on the table, how would you feel about doing something international? doja cat, maybe, or if you know cars with the boom by l’trimm?” the latter would be campy and fun, and the former would likely get some degree of attention due to doja cat’s massive fanbase.
if anyone had asked kami her honest thoughts, she’d admit this second stage was a shameless self-promotion. thankfully, they didn’t and she was able to give a bright smile to the camera as it followed her through dimension’s halls. “today, i’ll be meeting with lux sunbae. we’ll be preparing for our unit stage.” and she was excited. kami liked the group and she thought lux was talented, she knew that the stage would be good.
“hello sunbae.” the word’s came out her mouth as she opened the door the dance rooms. no, she didn’t magically know but she wondered if the editing would make it seem that way. “are you excited?” it wasn’t as if they weren’t close enough but it was best to show her best side on camera, not the relaxed her. “i have a few song idea’s for our stage and i want to listen to yours as well, i think we’ll have a great stage.”
lux was cautiously optimistic about the stage, personally. while they didn't hold any illusions that calypso had done well so far in the competition because of them, they did enjoy performing, and doing so with kami would be a rare treat.
"kami," they greeted with a smile and an air of cordiality. the pair were close, vibing well despite their different personalities. "i am! i think it's obvious we should do a rap stage, maybe something with 90s or y2k vibes? ah, it's hard to find a good duet, though, that'll give us both the opportunity to shine." wap came to mind, confessedly, but they were well aware that wouldn't fly on television, plus they'd doubtlessly face some backlash for 'corrupting' a candy member with such a choice. "i'd love to hear your ideas, though - you are the leader, after all." they grinned cheekily, poking the girl.
