11. Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around?

often depends on the piece for me. sometimes I like to write chronologically so I can keep any stray bits in line or for the sake of flow, other times I find it easier to write what I want to and rearrange or clean up where needed

14. What is your favorite location and position to write in?

MY BED !!! reclining all half-sitting, half-lying down. when I write on my phone ofc (which I most often do). on my laptop, my desk is sufficient but I don't nearly love it as much. not as comfy, harder to focus when my back hurts from crappy chairs ig

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

total mixed bag w me. I either: work out my title early into the conceptualising process, brainstorm mid-fic and decide then, or completely leave it to the fates at the end. and sometimes, if I'm feeling fussy, I'll even change titles of pieces if something doesn't Feel Quite Right. my relationship w titles is,, turbulent to say the least (I HATE doing it, unless I land on something from the get-go). the majority of my titles come from the core idea of the piece, I think. it's normally not a conscious thing for me, but maybe I find the best way to pitch my piece is to find its centre and name it after that ! it's all abt relevance and symbolism for me, can't do without it rly :3

It’s an unpopular opinion but it is absolutely and completely true. I’ve never seen someone who creates for engagement happy with the engagement they get. I posit they can’t ever be happy that way because it will NEVER be enough

I agree with OP and Manka so very much.

You have to rest in your own desire to create.

But, because I see statements like this turn into a sort of general notion of “it’s bad to want validation or attention or engagement”, and to me, that’s not what this means.

It’s perfectly valid to want people to like and engage with what you create. In a general sense, when you create anything, you do it to share with other human beings. Art, craft, food, anything you create is a way to connect with others through our shared humanity.

And wanting someone to like you fanart or read your fanfic is part of that.

the words used by OP is decouple, and this is important. Nothing wrong wanting engagement. But it cannot be tightly coupled with the drive to create.
