reblog to diminish the horrors from the person you reblogged from
When I was twenty I was almost shot by a police officer because of my mental illness. I was peeling bark off a tree on public property to calm my anxiety.
Two officers pulled up very quietly in a squad car while I had my back turned. They did not announce their arrival. When I noticed them approaching me by the sound of their footsteps, I was frightened and reached for my phone to record them. They thought I was going for a weapon and one reached for his pistol. I put my hands up.
They illegally detained me and took my ID to run a background check. The one who had started to draw his gun on me asked me if Iâd had any thoughts of hurting myself or others.
My background check came up clean. They released me and told me I wasnât doing anything illegal. I went to my car and bawled my eyes out, thinking about how Iâd almost died for the crime of âweird behavior.â
Donât give these pigs a registry of the mentally ill. Theyâre already trying to kill us for no good reason.
How You Can Help

So, there's apparently research coming out now about microplastics being found in people's bloodstreams and the possible negative effects of that and I feel the need to get out ahead of the wave of corporate sponsored "be sure to recycle your bottles!" or "ban glitter!" campaigns and remind everyone: It's fishing nets. It's fishing nets. It is overwhelming fishing nets It always has been fishing nets. Unless regulations are changed, it will continue to be fishing nets. The plastic in the ocean in largely discarded nets from industrial fishing. The microplastics are the result of these nets breaking down. The "trash islands" are also, you guessed it. Mostly fishing nets and other discarded fishing industry equipment. Do not allow them to continue to twist the story. Do not come after disabled people who require single use plastics. Do not come after people using glitter in art projects and makeup. These things make up a negligible amount of the issue compared to corporate waste, specifically in the fishing industry. Do not let them shift the blame to the individual so they can continue to destroy the planet and our bodies without regulation.
Industries are incredibly resistant to taking responsibility for their own waste, to the point where âconsumers are responsible for industrial wasteâ is somehow considered a sensible, ethical, worthy sentence.
It is actually perfectly reasonable to say that âindustries are responsible for industrial wasteâ and âthe effects of industry can, should and must be fixed by industryâ and âIndustry can, should and must be held responsible for its impacts on the commons, such as air, water, oceans and land.â
Care to explain this?
Absolutely. They are what we call pictures. In this case, images taken from a longer set of moving pictures we call an animated film. This series of animated films is called Arthur.
In the original version, the frames are projected many times a second, and due to a phenomena known as the persistence of vision, appear to us to be moving.
Any questions?
My elderly father started talking about how frustrating he finds âthe pronouns thingâ and I was like. Oh no. He had such a good stand on this, heâs been they/them-ing his cishet siblings for godâs sake! Is he regressing?? And he was talking about how difficult it is to remember, and how onerous it feels to expect strangers to keep track of it, and Iâm like oh no oh no.
Then he says, âI mean, the problem isnât the gender thing. The problem is four words: she, her, he, and him. We got rid of stewardess and turned it into flight attendant. It doesnât matter if the flight attendant is a man or woman, so we got rid of it. We just need to get rid of those. I donât need to know.â
âYou donât need to know⌠peopleâs gender?â
âNo. I donât care, I donât need to know, and I donât want to remember it.â
So we can relax. Itâs just a continuation of his crusade to they/them the world. He doesnât want to remember anyoneâs gender. Heâs abolishing the genders.

At face value, this is a ridiculous headline. But the article then says his managers berated and insulted him for leaving the party after an anxiety attack, and the company then fired him for taking days off work for âunsafe work practices,â due to having anxiety?
Seems like pretty often headlines that paint a lawsuit as frivolous and ridiculous seem a little more rational after some digging
Thereâs so much more to it as well. He repeatedly asked the company not to throw a party for him due to his anxiety (apparently this is standard practise for their office and he knew it would be triggering for him) and they âforgotâ about his request. On the day in question, he predictably had a panic attack and went to his car to do breathing exercises.
The next day he was called into a meeting where he was insulted and grilled about âruining the partyâ and âstealing his co-workersâ joyâ, which caused him to have another panic attack and start doing coping behaviours like hugging himself, at which point his employers decided he must be angry and was going to turn violent. They then suspended him for days and later told him heâd been fired.
So yeah, itâs not over an âunwanted birthday partyâ, itâs over employers repeatedly failing to accommodate someoneâs disability, trying to frame them as the villain for having accessibility needs, and firing them for not conforming to some stupid office politics.
Source with the court documents
I am completely pro-lawsuit. Lawsuits are often the only tool that otherwise powerless individuals have to demand some accountability from large corporations and institutions, and historically lawsuits have been a very important tool for civil rights, womenâs rights, LGBT+ rights, and disability rights. But this is exactly why the media is always depicting lawsuits as something frivolous and silly that only uptight spoiled crybabies who want easy money do, and people just eat up that propaganda without doing any research or critical thinking.
Friendly reminder that the case that popularized the concept of a frivolous lawsuit in pop culture, the woman burned by McDonaldâs coffee. Yeah she was elderly, and it burned thru muscle, on her genitals, and destroyed her quality of life for what greatly reduced amount was left. Iirc this was, as well, AFTER the store (or the company?) had been requested to stop serving it hot enough to murder with.
Itâs worse than that.
Her lawyers were able to find SEVEN HUNDRED OTHER CASES of people with burns bad enough to require medical treatment.
They didnât even have to look very hard, I understand, because McDonaldâs own documents had those seven hundred names on record
A woman burned herself drinking her McDonalds coffee while driving. She sued because her hot coffee was too⌠hot. Was it that simple?
The Monster at the End of this Book (1971)
My favorite book as a kid.
The Happy99 worm, also known as Ska or i-Worm, was a worm for Windows, appearing in 1999. The worm would display a gif of exploding fireworks in a window titled âHappy New Year 1999!âł. This was the first worm known to spread via e-mail and usenet. Other than attaching itself to the userâs computer, this worm did no damage.
thereâs been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and itâs hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh
never tell terfs about white-throated sparrow or they will lose their fucking minds
Do you want to hear about white-throated sparrows?!
Of course you do, theyâre fantastic. They come in two models, one with tan head stripes and one with white head stripes. But the gene that controls stripe color also has a bunch of other effects! Itâs a supergene!
To briefly sum up a grueling amount of fieldwork by people who were probably not getting paid nearly enough, basically the tan-stripes are nurturers and the white-stripes are fighters, across both males and females. White-stripes chase away intruders more, tan-stripes bring more food to the nest. Tan-stripe females bring more bugs to their chicks than white-stripes, white-stripe females are more aggressive and sing more.
There is a reason Jordan Peterson picked lobsters, not sparrows, to get all MRA about, because the sparrow ladies are ALL about the tan-striped males. Sexy nurturing tan-stripe males are immediately grabbed up by the more aggressive white-stripe females (who are also dead sexy if youâre a sparrow.) Then the remaining birds pair off, so you get tan and white couples reproducing in virtually all casesânurturing male with aggressive female, hyper-aggressive male with hyper-nurturing female.*
And this is good!** Because it turns out that they can have a tough time if they donât mate across stripesâwhite x white sparrows often come out undersized if they come out at all. There was some cool recent genetic sequencing and one particular chromosome is way funky, inverted, and scrambled in the white-stripes. So now every white-stripe has a funky chromosome and a normal one, and every tan-stripe has two normal ones.***
This is all really unique and means that white-throated sparrows effectively have four sexes, because they now only reproduce with a member of the opposite stripe and sex chromosome, and their offspring may be any one of the four sexes. The stripes have essentially become a second sex chromosome.
The geneticists involved think the funky chromosome probably showed up as a weird import from somebody gettinâ jiggy with another sparrow species. Presumably this created a hypersexy female whose white head stripes brought all the boys to the yard, and very unusually, that bred true.
Is that cool or what?!
*No word on whether there is a resulting sparrow tradwife media genre.
**Leaving aside the impact on the emotional health of the non-sexy sparrows.
**A population solely of tan-stripes can reproduce safely, theyâre just not that into each other.
And that's not even getting into the ruff, which also has 4 genetic sexes, but it's not two males and two females, it's three males and one female. One of the males plumes out like a hen. If you give a bit of testosterone to a hen ruff, she'll feather in like whatever male genes she's got, which is even weirder because their sex characteristics aren't even carried on the sex chromosome.
Birds don't give a single shit about gender, if they get one (1) opportunity to perform fuckery with it, they'll take it and won't look back.
