  Selene laughed, “Boring people.” She grinned, “Alright then, want another drink?”

“Yeah, sure and one for yourself too.“

Ainsley had been walking over to the bar and had caught most of what had gone over his head right in the face. “I guess ye could say that,” she chuckled, grabbing a bunch of napkins 

Luke was trying and failing to keep his chuckles at bay when he finally caught Ainsley’s full view. “This look isn’t bad on you. You look as gorgeous as ever,” he flirted, forgoing trying to dry himself off to help her instead by hand off napkins and discarding the ones that were completely soaked.

Winnie grabbed some more napkins, using them to dry the few places she’d been caught. “gods no. That’s not a profession I’ve ever been tempted by. I had more than enough of helping when my siblings got sick as children to put me off for life,”

“Ahhh, not a teacher either then.“ he smiled. “Let me buy you a drink. Its the least I can do.“

“You didn’t!?” he stared at him in disbelief. A laugh bubbled up out of him, “What would posses you to say that to her?” Owayne shook his head, “Oh no, I’m not taking notes. I actually like my dates to end well,” the wolf wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. “Entertaining? Not having a dating life till now has really screwed you,” he joked with another laugh.

  “I did. Mostly to see her reaction,“ Luke chuckled at the look he was getting, he was clearly enjoying their conversation. “Dates? What dates? Owayne am I going blind?“

“Well, consider me honored.” Rachel snorted, “No, but by your tone I feel like I should.”

“It’s only dark if you get emotional about it. Otherwise, it’s just a funny joke.” She shrugged. “You definitely look the part. Maybe you were in a past life.”

“Likewise,“ Luke said, rolling his eyes. “I talk about her all the time.“

“Yeah, and what does that say about my taste in friends?” She shook her head. “Nimble or wolf?”

“Would be hard to from the grave. Unless you’ve neglected to mention your necromancy abilities.”

“That they’re amazing! I have some standards when it comes to picking friends, you know.“ Luke was completely smittened. “You don’t know who she is?“

Owayne just gave him a look that said ‘you need to ask?’. “Ok, you’re going to have to give me some examples of these high expectations of yours. You mean to say you make a habit of this? Mate, why?”

Luke chuckled shaking his head. “I may have implied wanting to watch her get bitten by a alpha male friend of mines. Dating humans has always been tricky,” he said. “If you wanna take notes you’re going to need a pad larger than the webster’s dictionary. What would you say if I told you I find it entertaining? Coming from a closed off pack, didn’t leave much to the going out on dates life.”

“Don’t worry about it, I’ve been hit by worse,” leaning over the bar she grabbed a wad of napkins and passed him some

“Thanks,“ Luke grinned, patting himself and the bar down. “What? Are you a nurse or something?“

“You might have but I didn’t,” Owayne said but a grin soon followed. “What on earth did you say to her?” he asked as he wiped the drink off his arm

“You mean before or after the slap earlier?“ Luke questioned, already knowing the answer. “I’m a very passionate man with high expectations. My nights usually end with a couple of slaps and something being thrown at me.“

“You’re a menace to society…” Rachel squeezed out the water from the tips of her hair. “And also apparently on a cold streak.”

“When did you get laid last?”

“Yeah and you love it,” he laughed. “She wasn’t wifey anyways. I have my heart set out on someone special. I’m just bidin’ my time.“

  She grimaced and nodded, “Honestly, yea. It tends to happen fairly frequently. Want a rag or something more substantial than the napkins?”

“That does wonders for my ego. Who throws water in peoples faces anymore?“ With a wink, he shook his head no. “The wet look will draw more sympathy. “

Selene gave him a sympathetic wince before she grabbed a rag and began wiping up the drink. “Nah, I’m all good.”

“Happens a lot?“ Luke asked, grabbing a few napkins to wipe his face and pat down his shirt. 

“Yeah. I deserve that.“ Luke chuckled watching his date walk out the door and away from him. “Sorry, bud, did she get you too?“

“Of course,” Nat gave him a polite smile in return, “My clients are relieved that someone seems to be taking an interest in what’s going on,” she added, gracefully crossing one leg over the other. “I’m Miss Lydia Choy and I’m a lawyer,” 

“Our station and the local police have been working closely together to keep an eye on the situation and everyone informed.“ Luke quirked an eyebrow at her, wondering if his intell was correct and she was one of the human shifters and not a human lawyer. “Thank you again, Miss Choy. How certain are we that these are actual disappearances and not runaways or anything else?”

She chuckled when he did. “I help get food for the seethe. And take special requests every so often.”

“These special request have anything to do with the increase of disappearances that we’ve been seeing lately?“

“We met at a bar during pub trivia one night. He and his friends adopted me into their team for the night when mine bailed.” Not untrue, though they were her friends as well. “Robert takes these disappearances very seriously. He has been talking to the local police department, as well as some outside voices, on what could be done if he gets elected to office. It would be a day one issue for us all.”

“That was very nice of them,“ Luke chuckled. “Can you please clarify? For interview purposes you may need to rephrase, it’s sounds like this is only if he is elected.“

“I’ve been with it from the beginning. Robert and I met whilst I was getting my Masters in Social Work and he was just beginning to consider running.” The practiced backstory flowed from her easily, with the confidence of the strength in the life that Inez created for her. “We’d just begun dating when he announced his plans to run. As for my qualifications, my focus during my masters was with adolescents, though with my outreach work I haven’t gotten to work full time as a case worker.”

“How exactly did you meet? For example, was it thorough a mutual friend?“ Luke asked. “How is your outreach program and the Fischer campaign helping with the disappearance in a way that the police can’t?“
