it’s important to have two sets of headcanons, one that’s accurate to the character and their story that makes sense and works well, and another set for when you’re playing dolls and making them do whatever out of character bullshit you want

The idea of Tom learning that you can have intimacy without sex and he somewhat blows it off because that’s just stuff they tell you online or in movies but then he and Ryland spend the entire night just curled around each other and Ryland has a hand in his hair the whole time and Tom feels so close to breaking but he’s so weirdly calm and content and happy. In the morning he doesn’t even try to instigate anything, just moves Ryland’s hand back to his head where it slipped away during the night and falls back asleep.
