Development Update - July 2022
Hey everyone, here’s this month’s development update!
Our faction leaders have had their banners and dialogue expressions created. These characters will be pivotal in your journey through Mythaura.
Reine - Vanguard
A young Griffin who was recently ordained into leadership. Even though he is comparably young to the leaders that came before, Reine is fiercely devoted to the cause of The Vanguard and is often looked upon as a great mentor. He is seen here against the Vanguard stronghold seated in a sprawling Spryhawk Valley city.
Esris - The Call
A battle-hardened Dragon who was exiled from her previous life and raised a call for an uprising. Her influence and tenacity quickly earned her many followers and soon became a beloved leader. She is seen in the cavernous underground stronghold adapted for The Call beneath the mountainous Spine of Ere.
Forest Biome & Wild Areas
Wild Areas are procedurally-generated explorable dungeons that players can take a party of beasts into in order to gather resources, earn loot, tame monsters into companions, and defeat challenging bosses. Wild Areas will feature online multiplayer capabilities, allowing you to party with your friends and explore the world of Mythaura together in real-time. We will have a lot more to unveil about this in the coming months, but for now please enjoy this illustrated graphic of the game’s first area - an unnamed forest!
This illustrated piece will be used during battles as a stylish arena, and can also be unlocked as a background that you can equip to your beasts or feature on your profile.
A new demo showcasing our breeding algorithm has been added to the site: A breeding predictor! This tool will accept two import codes (which are generated using the beast creator) and predict some offspring that those two beasts could create. We would love to hear what you think, the current calculations used are a starting point that may be changed as we collect feedback from this demo.
Ko-Fi Sponsorship & Rewards
Now that we have settled into a good workflow, we are opening up sponsorship tiers and rewards for our amazing supporters to enjoy. There have been a lot of questions about Ko-fi and how this will impact previous Patreon supporters, which we hope to answer with this update. We hope you guys will enjoy what we are offering!
New Sponsorship Structure
Our Ko-fi has been updated to offer four membership tiers, each offering different kinds of benefits.
Sponsors gain access to the Sponsor Discord channel & role, exclusive WIPs & time-lapses of art assets, and Ko-fi’s asset shop.
Bronze sponsors will gain previous supporter rewards as well as the ability to join discord streams and participate in polls related to the game's features. You will also get a 10% discount on all shop items and an exclusive Molten Bronze skin for Dragon, Unicorn, and Griffin.
Silver sponsors will gain all previous supporter rewards as well as a secured beta access code that can be used when the site is in closed beta. You will also get a 20% discount on all shop items and an exclusive Molten Silver skin for Dragon, Unicorn, and Griffin.
Gold sponsors will gain all previous supporter rewards as well as a shout-out on our monthly updates and an exclusive banner for your profile. You will also get a 30% discount on all shop items and an exclusive Molten Gold skin for dragon, unicorn, and griffin. You will also get an additional Gold-sponsor exclusive Solid Gold dragon skin and an exclusive companion.*
*This first month’s gold sponsors will have a hand in helping design this companion!
Starting today, active sponsors will get immediate access to a timelapse of the forest background featured above and Bronze+ sponsors will get to help us name that forest region & vote on the early sponsor companion concept. All rewards except for the discord streams can be accessed directly from Ko-fi and do not require Discord to enjoy.
Skins, the companion, and beta code are rewarded for the first month's payment and are not revoked if the subscription is later canceled. Additional months will not reward extra copies of the skins or companions.
We are also opening an asset shop where you can sponsor an item, apparel piece, or skin. This is an experimental take on the monthly rewards previously enjoyed by Patreon supporters, allowing more supporters to be able to make their unique mark on the game while better controlling the workload it causes. These come in two different types…
Themed Asset - Sponsor an item of a specific theme for a discounted price. This will allow you to sponsor an item or asset for an area of the game we are actively trying to develop and fill out. Sponsors will get to purchase these at a discounted price and with fulfillment priority, but they are available for anyone to purchase even without one of the above membership tiers.
Custom Asset - We are also offering the ability to sponsor completely custom assets separate from any theme. These allow you to get just about anything created officially in the game as long as it doesn’t break the continuity of the world. Only active sponsors can purchase custom assets.
For each type of asset, you will receive five copies of your sponsored item when the site goes live. You will also be credited as its sponsor.
Please note that we may temporarily make certain items unavailable if we need to catch up on our fulfillment workload.
Sponsors of at least Bronze tier that subscribe any time between today and Halloween will also receive a limited-time early-bird sponsor companion when the site goes live as a thank-you. Enjoy the first concepts for this special companion. Bronze, Silver, and Gold sponsors will get to help vote this month on which concept we should move forward with.
All Patreon rewards will be honored - once we have beta signups available our Patreon supporters will receive their codes and additional banners that have been promised. As of now, Patreon supporter roles have been deprecated and Patreon supporters will no longer have access to the “Supporter” discord channels unless they also have a Ko-fi supporter role. However, their roles will still exist as a badge of honor for being such an early bird supporter - thank you!
This month we brought aboard Miyazaki as our lead production writer. She will be working behind the scenes on lore, world-building, continuity, and all the important narrative aspects we hope to offer.
