this is from "research as a leisure activity" by celine nguyen, publs. on stubstack in 2024. it's a very good read
I met someone when I was pretty young who had received a generous inheritance -- not enough to live a life of luxury, but enough to live on comfortably without working. He had chosen to simply keep going to school his whole life. He did get degrees, but he didn't use them for anything other than pleasure -- he had a Ph.D but also two Master's degrees, three BAs, and was currently serving an apprenticeship in blacksmithing while considering trying out some trade schools next. I thought, if I had the money I'd do that too, and then thought about how I still could learn all the time, it would just have to be a hobby instead of the career he'd made of it. It definitely changed the way I saw both education and leisure.
I have spent my entire life trying to explain to people that i am not learning stuff in order to make money, i am learning stuff because it is the best thing ever and i love it
A second thought save them all from my provoked rage...Where is Louis?

The urban fantasy show I actually want to see is a hospital drama with a dedicated wing for supernatural illnesses.
Vampirism. Lycanthropy. Cheap spells gone wrong. A woman brought in for her prenatal has to be told her baby is a lindworm. Someone is literally being followed by the anthropomorphic personification of the Black Death.
Someone somewhere out there is having their perception of the world irreparably shattered by the knowledge that magic is real, and at the other side is a team of doctors who have to roll their eyes and pull out Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales because some high school kid tried to go Carrie with a cheap spellbook and turn all the kids at prom into frogs, and the doctors have to wrangle a couple dozen teenagers into admitting if they have a true love who can break the spell.
I want the hospital director to be some dark entity that feeds on human misery but figured out that if you successfully treat the source of the misery then instead of hunting you down as an abomination the humans start bringing more miserable people to your house en masse and things kinda got out of hand from there.
Grimm's Anatomy
Yes!
Need this!

the magic assad zaman is capable of doing with his eyes & brows is deadly. he makes his eyes so big, raises his brows so sorrowfully and i can admit it, i'm not above saying it, i'm absolutely spellbound by him. he balances armand so masterfully between suffering child, pained cherub and sharp eyed manipulator. the whiplash between episode 4 & 5 is partially due to how controlled assad is able to show us the different mindsets armand is in. i just don't think we'll ever be as lucky again with an armand performance.
Thinking about how that Armand follower said "did you slip out before the wife woke up" to daniel LMFAOOOOO LORDDD THESE TWO....
I feel like Daniel’s relationship with Armand followers would be funny asf like Daniel hates them but becomes secretly fond of them but they LOVE DANIEL THEY WOULD BE THE DEVILSMINION WINGMEN LNFOAKAOKAKA
And Armand is just indifferent to them but doesnt kill the ones daniel is fond of
Lol I saw a comment about what they do with Louis the other day after the ill timed preview and I was like oh OK that could be bad. But I doubted Jacob would stand for it, I know from other interviews they changed things whe. The actors weren't comfortable doing something. And then I'm watching it and louis is telling Armand everything I thought about them being together and then he cuts him before he leaves the room. ITS THE SCARLET LETTER. nothing to do with slavery or being black or their past in sex work etc. It's the scarlet letter. 😆 🤣 I can't basically he forgiven him but has branded him as a lair.
Hehheh like wow. Read more.
Also dude this whole set up is amazing. Head In a Bag. I hate Ragland but he is funny. And I could see akasha waking and coming to lestat because her web suddenly becomes much smaller. I wonder what they will do with the Amel web connection next season. 🤔 I'm excited have they announced renewal yet. Waiting two years in torture but gives me time to reread for the third time. Yes only twice they take forever and fill the mind I take my time. Always have hehheh except the first time I read prince lestat I read it in two days. Hehheh blood and gold only took a week in high-school. But tell of the blood theft took months because it was a school library book and I had to wait til school was back hehheh. I started interview when I was about 7 it took years. But I'm Dyslexic and it's a college level book so it took a long time. The second full time I read it was in high-school when the queen of the damned was released and my friend Mikey pointed out the differences and I was like dude I need to reread them hehheh I miss Mikey he looked like lestat. With a marine hair cut lol.
Anyway I have all the books digital now so I can read them that way. Hehheh. Also interview is only 140,000 words give or take, hehheh big thick heavy words but still.

Anyway gonna finish the episode now.
Wow. Ok like that was Abrupt and the two years is why I didn't watch the first two seasons when they came out. 😑 like a year I can do but two is insane.
Amc you coward.
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare

when england lose, women bruise
and this isnt even an english phenomenon, it is worldwide
The connection between football and domestic violence isn’t uncommon. A study shows that police receive increased calls reporting domestic violence every Sunday during football season [iii]. Researchers analyzed over 700 cities and counties using data from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) of police reports, revealing that these spikes are linked to teams losing a game [iii]. In fact, domestic violence incidents rise by about 10% on days when NFL games are played, usually occurring in family homes and most of the time affecting women [iii]. This shows that the outcomes of football games can have a real impact on people’s lives off the field. It’s important for fans, teams, and communities to recognize these patterns and work together to raise awareness and prevent domestic violence from happening, especially during football season.
NFL games bring people from all over the United States together to show their love for the game, creating an atmosphere where diverse cultur
