Who are you when you're separated from the role you've been forced into? Who are you when you're not the demon fox, the valuable monster, the living weapon– the little ghost boy, wearing every face but your own? Who are you when you're not the reasonable one, the canon fodder, the people pleaser– the civilian-shinobi trying to fulfill both obligations? Who are you when you're not the burning avenger, the effortless prodigy, the flight risk– under the weight of your clan's legacy, a burden not made for one?

If they had to have parallels with anyone, Naruto would be Orochimaru and Sakumo (monster and failure you're called and so monster and failure you are. you sand down your sharp edges because not even home is safe for your true smile.)

Sakura would be Anko and Minato (there is something wrong with you. you're so angry, and you're so good at hiding it. you're so angry, and you're so horrible about hiding it. there are expectations and stories built up around what you are and none of them are you.)

Like, the dude lost his brother, his home and years of his life because Nightmare have turned him into stone and even with all of this, he still trying to protect everyone around him and is possibly the one who cares the most about the other AU's. You can argue that Ink also cares but not really, he is capable of destroying all the AU's just to get what he wants (as you can see in Underverse) and he can just make them all afterwards so he's just don't care. But Dream is gonna do everything he can to protect everyone and everything just because is the right thing to do.

The man is even whiling to fight his own brother to protect anyone and he is freaking AGRESSIVE with Nightmare! Usually on those sibling rivalry stories, the good one tries to convince the bad one to come back to the light side, but Dream Sans woke up and chose violence, cause he is having none of that dialogue shit! He doesn't care if Nightmare is family or not, he's rather end him than keep it up with anymore of his bullshit! He straight up blew up holes on his brother, more than once without any sort of regret

I mean, look at his face on the start of the fight

If that isn't the face of someone who's gonna kick someone straight to hell, i don't know what it is, you can see the murderous and dissapointed look of someone who didn't want to do this, but will do it gladly, and you can tell how powerfull Dream Sans can potentially be just looking at Nightmare face

He knows he's done for it, he knows Dream is more powerfull now because of the positive emotions around him, he knows he screwed up and he knows Dream is not going to hesitate

This is not the face of mercy, this is the face of someone who can and will destroy him and leave him helpless. Nightmare likes to play with his victims, but Dream is not here to play, he's here for a job and he's gonna finish it one way or another, he didn't start this war but now is on.

That's why he's my favourite, Dream is much more than just a nice sparkly Sans, he's basically a god and an entity who is dangerous to mess up with, if Nightmare with maximun negative emotions can overtake an entire dimension, imagine what Dream can do with maximun positive emotions? He can potentially be freaking terrifying! Maybe powerfull enough to take on very big enemies like Error or the Bad Guys Sans, and the fandom just ignores it because... Nightmare is dark and grimmy and scary! But no!

Nightmare's just a punk with no motivation other than power, while Dream is out here with a tragic backstory and actual depth that could be great for a stand alone comic all about him
