aph-tired until may 2022 > tried if i already had mister-ddr, inspired in aph-/hws- urls. only "lurked" for most of the year, until i decided to make some own posts (and write fanfics). feb 2023, changed it for a last time to goldammerchen (little yellowhammer).
favorite or most used time period: post-war/cold war and the after, stopping 10-20 years ago for my sanity. but! my main focus is on characters rather than in mega exact historical accuracy: loosely historical, low fantasy, and meta.
rbed stuff has almost no tags! (sorry), i tag ships more than individuals.

i like when fiction treats love as a more complicated force and not something that is inherently pure or redemptive. portray it as flawed and complex as any other human impulse. give me love as prejudice, love as possessive stasis, love as addiction, love as blindness, etc.
at that, i find it disingenuous to frame it as “if the person hurt you they could not have loved you. that is not love.” just not a productive definition of the word to me
ok i am indoors for a heat wave break with my gatorade and my air conditioning the ACTUAL PROBLEM with "cut everything that doesn't move the plot forward" is that it was never meant to be the actual advice. the actual advice is that everything in the story should serve a purpose, and that is a distinction that i think a lot of modern editors, let alone members of the modern audience, fail to grasp.
this IS one of the craft discussions that got me yelled at on fandom twt because of the exact same misunderstanding. there are MANY ways for a scene to serve a story that have nothing to do with driving a plot, because plot itself is only one element of story. anyone who has not yet developed an understanding of story beyond "fictional events, described in order" might hear "everything in the story should serve a purpose" and parse it as "cut everything that doesn't move the plot forward" but, at the risk of being a pretentious bitch, that's never what the serious people were saying. in lrb example of far from the madding crowd four pages of a guy standing in a freezing sheep field at midnight watching the stars sticks with op because it serves the story without driving the plot. and a lot of those old books are classics that we still study to this day because (among other reasons) it is worth taking the time to sit with those scenes and ask ourselves what their purpose is, what they're doing there, how they work.

Child porn, fictional or not, is illegal for a reason. No one is "icked out" by what proshippers do. Why would you disrespect such a serious topic by calling it an "ick." You're a fucking adult.

i have no idea what could have prompted you to send this in the first place, but i have never used the words "ick" or "icked out" to describe either child porn or discourse about uncomfortable topics in fiction, because i am, as you said, a fucking adult. you have absolutely no business or good intent making up a guy to get mad at and putting their words in my mouth about something as serious as the abuse and exploitation of real life human beings.
since you brought it up, my problem with "proship" (and its counterpart "anti") as a concept is that it's frequently falsely equated with "child porn" in order to intensify people's reactions by manipulating their disgust response, as it is in your ask, which does nothing except obfuscate a serious issue that affects real people and sideline real safety and human rights concerns in favour of more palatable, victimless fictional ones, which helps absolutely no one.
nothing could bring me more joy than giving children as much space as possible to be their own people without my interference. i've studied child sociology in an academic setting and in my own time, entirely voluntarily. i'm a youth liberationist. i was a child once too, and i would give up my life and every good thing that has ever happened to me if it meant that no child would ever have to go through anything like what i and so many others have again, because we were/are not seen as worthy of humanity, let alone dignity or respect. you are not the first person to try pedojacketing me but you did pick a very bad day to test my patience about it. stay away from me you unhelpful, lying asshole.

it's a really incredible attitude that encourages healing and sincerity that we've cultivated towards abuse as a society, where you can talk about the things that happened to you that still regularly wake you up screaming and how that affects the way you experience the world and be told "but what if you were the real source of danger for being able to think about these awful things and put them into words? stay away from other people, you disgusting, dirty freak"
