aph-tired until may 2022 > tried if i already had mister-ddr, inspired in aph-/hws- urls. only "lurked" for most of the year, until i decided to make some own posts (and write fanfics). feb 2023, changed it for a last time to goldammerchen (little yellowhammer).
favorite or most used time period: post-war/cold war and the after, stopping 10-20 years ago for my sanity. but! my main focus is on characters rather than in mega exact historical accuracy: loosely historical, low fantasy, and meta.
rbed stuff has almost no tags! (sorry), i tag ships more than individuals.

Where did he want it to be? Aachen, Frankfurt? Emperors’ cities. Something about Vienna sours his mood. He does not want to be buried in Berlin.
Karl thinks of stone spires and forested hills and languages heavier than his own. Prague is a beautiful city.
“She'd hate that”, he laughs to himself, a soft thing that tapers into a cough. He didn't know Prussia could be this quiet.
“You don't actually think you'll die, do you?”
Maybe he doesn't want to be buried at all. Maybe he wants to be embalmed and laid in a stone tomb where everyone could come see him in the late days of summer and mourn how he'd stay a child forever, now.
What did Prussia say? His hand sits thin and boney in Karl's own. He feels like he should be the one with frail hands. Something about dying.
“It's just a formality.”
The papers are signed, he just can't seem to hurry along. How long is this going to take? Why are Prussia's hands colder than his?
“Where is Brandenburg?”
He must be dying, too. A lot of them must be dying, now. Karl smiles.
“Away”, Prussia says. Karl used to go away, too, to Rome and the Rhine and the Carpathians. He always came back bearing more and less of himself; does Brandenburg have anything to lose? Is there anything left to gain? Always away…
“I don't want to be buried in Berlin, Gilbert.” He knows that much. He knows it for certain.
