Tonight, as I sit here winding down from the day, I can’t help but feel grateful.

This morning, I took the kids to their doctor appointment for allergy testing. I was a little nervous about how they would handle it, but they both did amazing. We learned that they are allergic to a few things, and I walked away with so much new information that will help me take even better care of them moving forward.

After the appointment, we came home and spent the rest of the day enjoying the simple moments. I relaxed a bit, chased the kids around, worked on some college homework, cooked dinner, and kept up with the usual mom duties. After dinner, the kids took their baths and then spent some time playing outside before bedtime.

By 8:30 PM, both kids were asleep, and the house finally became quiet.

Today wasn’t filled with anything extravagant, but it was one of those days that reminds me how beautiful ordinary life can be. The kids were happy, healthy, and full of energy. I got things accomplished, learned something important, and spent quality time with my little ones.

Sometimes life feels overwhelming, but then there are days like today that remind me that God is looking out for us. Not every blessing comes in a big package. Sometimes it’s found in healthy children, laughter in the backyard, a completed homework assignment, and a peaceful bedtime.

Today was one of those days that felt like it lasted a week.

The kids were arguing before I even finished my first cup of coffee. Every request seemed to turn into a battle. I found myself repeating the same things over and over until my voice got louder than I wanted it to. As a mom, especially a single mom, the guilt that follows those moments can be overwhelming.

Then came the car trouble.

Because apparently life looked at my stress level and decided it wasn’t high enough.

There’s something uniquely frustrating about having a car break down when you’re already trying to hold everything together. School drop-offs, errands, job searching, appointments—everything suddenly feels ten times harder.

Speaking of job searching, I’m still looking.

Every application I send feels like I’m throwing a message into the ocean and hoping someone writes back. The waiting is exhausting. The uncertainty is exhausting. Wondering how everything will work out is exhausting.

And somewhere between being a mom, managing a household, and trying to stay positive, I still have a college project hanging over my head. Deadlines don’t care if you’re overwhelmed. Assignments don’t care if your car won’t start or your kids are having a rough day.

By the end of today, I felt defeated.

But here’s the thing about single moms—we don’t really get the luxury of giving up.

Tomorrow I’ll wake up and do it all again. I’ll keep applying for jobs. I’ll figure out the car situation. I’ll finish that project. I’ll apologize if I lost my patience and remind my kids how much I love them.

Not because I’m superhuman.

Because I’m their mom.

And even on the days when I feel like I’m failing, I’m still showing up.

Maybe that’s what strength really looks like—not having it all together, but continuing forward when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

So tonight, I’m giving myself permission to be tired.

Not defeated.

Just tired.

Being a single mom is one of the hardest and most rewarding jobs in the world. Every day I wake up knowing little eyes are looking up to me, depending on me, and believing I can do anything. Some days I feel strong and unstoppable. Other days I feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure of what comes next.

Right now, I’m on a journey that many single mothers know all too well: looking for a job while trying to balance motherhood.

Job searching isn’t easy. It means filling out applications late at night after the kids are asleep. It means checking emails during nap times and hoping for a call back while managing a hundred other responsibilities. It means facing rejection and trying not to let it shake your confidence.

The truth is, being a single mom has taught me skills that no resume can fully capture. I’ve learned how to multitask, solve problems, manage schedules, handle stress, and keep going even when life feels impossible. Those are strengths, not weaknesses.

There are moments when I worry. I worry about bills, the future, and whether I’m making the right choices. But I also remind myself that every application I send is a step forward. Every interview is a chance. Every setback is preparing me for the opportunity that is meant for me.

To every single mom reading this: you are doing better than you think. Your hard work matters. Your sacrifices matter. The love you give your children matters.

I don’t know exactly where my journey will lead, but I do know this: I refuse to give up. My children deserve to see their mom chase her dreams, and I deserve the chance to build the life I’ve always wanted.

So today, I’ll send another application. I’ll keep believing. I’ll keep pushing forward. Because behind every strong child is a mother who never stopped trying.

And that mother is me.

My First Blog — Hello World

Hi there,

I don’t really know who will read this yet… maybe nobody at first, maybe just me coming back to this page late at night when everything is quiet.

But I wanted to start anyway.

I’m a single mom. And this is my story.

Not the perfect version. Not the filtered version. Just real life—messy mornings, tired nights, and everything in between. Some days I feel strong like I can handle anything. Other days I’m just trying to make it to bedtime without crying in the shower.

But I’m here. I’m trying. And that counts for something.

This blog is going to be a space for me to share it all:

* The small wins (like finally getting everyone out the door on time 😅)

* The hard days when nothing goes right

* The lessons I’m learning about love, strength, and starting over

* And the little moments that remind me I’m doing better than I think

I don’t have it all figured out. Not even close. But I’ve learned that you don’t need to have everything together to start something meaningful.

So here I am… starting anyway.
