She cleared her throat, standing at attention, waiting for her superior to acknowledge her.
"Oh, are you still there?" They lifted their gaze for a moment before dropping it back to the papers on their desk.
"You just summoned me, sir."
"I was going to congratulate you, but think I've changed my mind. You can leave."
"Captain, I have a status update."
"Oh, do tell, Lieutenant."
"It appears we've been struck by an asteroid."
"..."
"Captain? Did you hear me?"
"Oh, oh I HEARD you, Lieutenant. I was just gobsmacked at how blindingly stupid you must be to have said the words you just did in the order you just did after the last fifteen minutes of our collective experience transpired."
"Sir, if I may-"
"NO! No, you may not. 'It appears we've been struck'- a big ass space rock crashed into the forward view screen! Half of the fucking bridge is GONE. I was there! YOU were there! And I can only surmise that you survived where several of my friends did not by somehow having evolved the ability to operate the tiny amount of brain that Science insists you MUST have without any goddamn OXYGEN!"

“Well, this is an unexpected surprise… Jonathan,” the villain drawled, practically smirking.
“Cut the crap!” Jonathan snapped. “You’ve been acting weird ever since you found out who I am. Why? Do you know me or something?”
The villain gasped, hand to chest. “What?! That’s preposterous! I just happen to know your entire work schedule by heart and decided to match our plans so you’d focus entirely on me when we’re together.”
Jonathan blinked. “...And that doesn’t sound weird to you?”
The villain shrugged. “I mean, sure, it’s not exactly 'normal' around here—but frankly, It wouldn’t kill you to stop trying to multitask and focus on ONE THING! for once. Preferably me. So really, if you think about it... Its is your fault i care soo much.”
Jonathan stared. “So what I’m hearing is... you have a crush on me?”

The villain’s smirk faltered for a heartbeat—just long enough to notice.
