There was a simplicity to making the dead walk. She’d been taught years ago, but now it came as easy as breathing.

Sickly green magic curled around Eleeria’s fingers as the row of broken and bloodied bodies sat on the plain of the Barrens. Mass works of magic took concentration, but thankfully, these bodies weren’t particularly talkative. It left her plenty of time for companionable silence as she went down the line.

It was a delicate magic she wove. Like plucking the notes from a tune only she could see, Eleeria’s magic spun the bodies a new purpose on the tips of her fingers. Walk, fight until they couldn’t any longer. Die, for the second time in as many days most likely. In concert, directed by the magic she applied, the bodies stood up of their own accord. There was no thought behind their eyes – the perfect soldiers, to obey every command. Silent and still, for now.

Prompt: “First(s)”

Day: 1

Setting: Silvermoon City, one year before the Fall.

“…And you’re sure this will help?”

Blue eyes flicked upwards towards the taller man in front of her as she held out her newly tattooed arm, a brow arched in a mixture of skepticism and curiosity. “I mean, if it doesn’t, it still looks cool–”

A strong hand gripped her wrist with a careful tenderness to better examine it while not agitating the puffy, reddened skin around the ink. “Isoria. Trust me. It’ll work. When have I ever steered you wrong?” Came the incredulous reply, his own eyebrow lofting at her in turn.

“Well.. There was that one time–” The playful tone in her voice was apparent as she spoke, her signature wicked smile pulling at the corners of her mouth. She barked out a laugh as he let go of her wrist and lightly shoved her shoulder instead, replying with a roll of his eyes. “Oh relax, Evripidis. I’m giving you shit. Now, how does this work again?” The woman inquired, hands on hips.

“Well, with this one, you just channel your magic naturally, and it makes it less draining. Just try a basic spell - but don’t burn the forest down.” He warned, pointing an accusatory finger at his friend.

“Oh, please, I’m not that magically inept. Or stupid, for that matter.” Blue eyes gave an exaggerated roll before she extended her right hand outwards, aimed at a spot on the horizon, and murmured an incantation under her breath. Sparks of arcane leapt from her fingertips almost immediately, forming into a coil of magic that spiraled outwards. It peeled off into the distance like a rocket, and soon it could no longer be seen. The tattoo on her arm glowed and pulsed a vibrant blue hue as the spellbreaker released a breath, glancing up at her much taller friend.

“Holy shit. I–that’s a huge difference. I don’t feel nearly as mana-starved after that.” She remarked curiously, staring at the tattoo for a few moments. “I might have to get more of these.”

“Don’t get too carried away. You’ll be nothing but runes.” The man snorted.

“Hey now. I probably won’t get too carried away with this, but Gods, it’d be handy to at least get a few more.”

‘And look at me now,’ the rogue thought as she drifted gradually into consciousness; the woman wore an amused expression while she took inventory of all the runes she was covered with now. At last estimate, she guessed it was around thirty-two. Maybe it was time to actually count them and see how many she really had.

It was early in the morning, and the sunlight was just beginning to peek through her blinds and into the bedroom. The general grogginess still clung to her smoldering golden hues while she scanned the room, locating both Orchid and Tiger Lily curled up at the end of her bed. Still asleep. Likely exhausted after romping around the entirety of the downstairs the night before. Not that she could blame them.

After grabbing a sheet of ornate paper and a pen off of her bedside table, she wrote a quick note to her old friend inviting him over for breakfast, shipping it off with a snap of her fingers. Arms lifted over her head in a long, much-needed stretch before she swung her legs out from underneath the plush covers and stood up.

It was time to start another day.

You have always been your fathers’ daughter.

There are still raven feathers coating your fingers; the dying caws of avians still sound in your ears, and though you know later you should apologize to Eli for the life being ripped from her friends, now you push it from your mind.

You move through the snow at a clipped speed, ducking between the trees with daggers in hand. You had the foresight to grab your armor and favored weapons before you disappeared into the mountains of Alterac without a trace, evading Lormeus’ increased patrols. Rarely do you use your rogue skills any longer, but there’s something refreshing about being free of obligation and people watching you. That thought alone makes you increase your speed, until you’re truly dashing through Alterac, hunting for something to take your mind off of everything.

(The birds keep cawing in your ears, and no matter how much you run, you’re hard-pressed to escape them. Fucking birds. Fucking Lightsworns and their mind games. No one controls Eleeria Silverwing. Do they?)

Give me pyromancy that burns the skin off your hand until your bones are showing. Give me arcane that cooks you inside-out from manaburn. Give me cryomancy that cracks your skin and chips it away. Give me necromancy that causes your teeth to turn necrotic and your eyes to glass over white.

I don’t want cute magic. I want magic to be a raw and dangerous force. I want those who harness it to feel the full effects of what a great and terrible thing it is. I want mages who wear the effects of their magic on their skin and in their bones.

Why on earth should it all be sparkles and giggles? Healing shouldn’t be instantaneous, nor should it be painless.

And it wasn’t even a fair fight! Gai put him in a hole on the ground and then kicked him so hard he distorted space, blew up half of Madara’s ribcage and burned half his body with the energy of speed alone

Everyone else is throwing fireballs and thunderbolts and shit, and instead of giving up like a normal and sane person would, he took this as a personal challenge from god amd got so ripped he probably could’ve put Kaguya in a fucking grave if he hadn’t kicked Madara so hard his leg blew up.

DISTINGUISHING MARKS: Ilaena has scales that run across most of her body, like a carapace. Though she is fairly pale, they’re a shade darker than her normal skintone, a dark cream. While they seem sharp enough to stab someone with and glide with, the shape of them seems ill-suited for flying of any sort, merely saving her from an ungraceful fall. Her fingernails are long and sharp.

RP HOOKS: I am always interested in friends and rivals for Ilaena. Other illidari are also more than welcome to know her from the Black Temple or their time in Marduum! She spent time in the Broken Isles and has, since the Legion’s defeat, hopped from odd job to odd job.  You could very well have hired her to do your errands or as a mercenary for some cause or another. She’s been particularly fond of working for organizations who need a hired killer, as she’s fast and stealthy enough to get into places quickly. She doesn’t seem to have many limits. If you’re a criminal, that’s totally fine; as long as you give her money, that’s all she cares about.

(Don’t cheat her out of money, or you’ll find a very angry spider lady where you least expect her. And it won’t be pleasant. But I’m totally fine to have that sort of confrontation too!)

I’m especially interested in some rivals who might push her buttons a bit, or some close friends. I’m also not averse to more intimate plotlines with the right RP partner and some good communication, but would prefer that sort of thing be worked up to through decent scene setting and not handwaved into backstory.
