I'm screaming internally.

it is quite fairly weird, his bug case is pretty darn inconsistent.

even in the sprites themselves they always change opacity for some reason, meh.

in the concept art it even is completely green on the topmakes me wonder how they decide on what they wanna go for when they make the sprites vs the cgs, anything involving the character’s art, since they dont seem to consistently go with the reference sheets

Now this ask led me to a fun discovery

so basically i looked up the CGs on the wikia

the thing was that (1) looked like the first image i posted and (2) looked like the second one (minus the flashy background since that disappears). and it was obvious to me that they weren’t taken from the same copy of the game

number 1 uses the colored concept art like anon said, but they’ve been painted over and refined to fit in better with the style of the Kaede artwork there

number 2 however, is literally just everyone’s colored concept art taken and slapped on there without any changes, for some reason. even though number 1 exists

and he’s just missing his goatee there. for some reason. prolly bc it was an earlier design and then they went “dam we need this dude to have a goatee” but didn’t update it haha
