Something not talked about enough in the Guardians 3 discourse is the classic nature vs. nurture subtext of the High Evolutionary commentary on, well, evolution. Do we act based on our inherent traits or our immediate environment? The prime example surprisingly is Gamora imo.
Yes, Quill must learn to love her as she is rather than how he'd like to her to be—his *perfect* Gamora—but also she demonstrates that it is the nurturing that we receive that can truly shape us. Her arc shows us that she retains the same inherent natural dispositions oriented towards justice and family, but being taken in by the Ravengers rather than the Guardians crew altered the course of her new(ish) life. Her environment changed, thus so did she. And she "evolved" differently than Quill's lost Gamora.
Edit: another point, mean Gamora makes a comment to Quill while breaking into the facility that the values of lost Gamora he's describing sounds like current (redeemed) Nebula. This is used as a comedic moment to imply a possible romance, but its more! Thus showing that the Guardians friendship changes someone in a particular way that other friendships, like the Ravengers, do not.
