It is the best boy's birthday!

Fun fact, I actually put this post in my drafts exactly one year ago on his last birthday but I ran out of steam. And ideas. Anyway, I love bf text posts but there are almost always never with Asahi so I decided to make them myself. Enjoy! Or don't. I can't tell you what to do.

the rest of the dream was fuzzy, but I remember going into Mezo's room (and apparently in the dream he was my boyfriend, which is, yes???)

and he was asleep and so I climbed into bed and wrapped my arms around him to hold him, like, yknow to cuddle up and sleep in bed with him

... but he accidentally rolled out of bed because he was startled, not used to being held because of the awkwardness of his arms making it difficult to position himself into being held rather than holding someone else

"Yeah, I really like quiet bad boys," you joked with your friend, legs thrown across her lap as you talked about your type. The words that fell from your mouth were a joke, it was obvious to you and your friend, but Kirishima took these words as an oath. The quick sentence had already been engrained into his memory, sharp teeth fighting the urge to dig into the flesh of his cheek. The words echoed through his mind, ringing in his ears as he felt his heart drop to his feet.

He knew it wasn't good to eavesdrop. It totally wasn't manly. But he couldn't help it! The moment he heard the topic of "types" come up between you and your best friend, his ears perked up before he could even think. And I guess this was learning the hard way, getting his feelings hurt over something he wasn't even supposed to hear in the first place.

"Are you okay?" you asked softly, noticing the way Kirishima's mouth hung agape, gaze fixed on the wall ahead as he tried to process the things he had just heard.

"What? Oh, yeah. Super, super chill. I'm totally okay," he roughly attempted to save himself, cringing internally when you turned away with a soft chuckle.

The next day when he showed up to class, his hair was down, now dyed back to its original dark color. His bright red eyes peaked out from beneath the black strands. It was clear he was trying his best to seem mysterious and broody, doing whatever he could while still fitting the dress code.

"Hey, Kiri, what's with the new look?" you chuckled softly, approaching where he sat, staring out of a window like he was contemplating something.

"Yeah," he simply replied, not bothering to turn and make eye contact with you. What you couldn't see was how his body was fighting him, craving to look into your eyes, wanting to see the kindness behind them, but he wanted you to give him a chance.

"Why are you acting so weird right now?" you laughed, cocking an eyebrow and gently tilting your head, wanting to know what was up with the usually perky boy.

"I'm not. Jus' thinking," he sighed, finally turning his head to look at you. He was attempting to make his eyes look tired, half-lidded gaze looking into your eyes, but you could see the usual spark of energy behind them.

"Y'know, I like your red-hair a lot better," you confess, leaning against the wooden desk in front of him.

"Really? That's- I mean, chill," Kirishima began excited, perking up at the compliment of what he wanted to be, what he previously was. It was like he already had a chance, but he had to remember your type. You hadn't said anything about hair color, you just mentioned personality. Maybe he went a little... overkill with the black hair dye, but there was no possible way you could mean you liked him. The real him.

Eijiro had been hanging out in his dorm when he heard a soft knock sound on his door. His pillows were already stained, the reddish splotches growing on his pillows from the fresh dye that he had put in a few days ago, still bleeding onto everything he touched.

When he opened the door, he was greeted with your face. The cheesy smile was immediately wiped off his face, straightening his posture as you opened your mouth to speak.

"Why have you been acting all weird lately? It's like... every time I come around you're all serious and broody," you asked him, stepping a bit closer to the boy. The panic that seeped through his blood line was poorly disguised, blush blooming on his cheeks and ears.

"You said your type was bad boys," he muttered under his breath, eyes flicking away from where yours attempted to meet them.

"I was joking, Kiri," you chuckled softly, hand moving to grab his, "my type is guys who can be themselves around me."

"Really?" Kirishima eagerly asked. If he was a dog, his tail would've been wagging like crazy. He pulled you inside, mumbling something about a movie date and rambling about how hard it was to not talk to you. You laughed at how excited the boy was, seemingly acting like you just confessed to him, and frankly, you didn't mind. You were just glad you got your crush back. Your Eijiro Kirishima back.

He stared at you like you’d just broken up with him, lips pushing into a pout and a few stutters and confused grumbles spilling from his mouth. “Wha- Huh?! What do you mean no kissing and no touching?” His jaw was on the floor in shock, study material forgotten.

“I need to lock in, Kiri, and you keep distracting me.”

“What?” He exclaimed. “How do I distract you? If anything, I encourage you. I motivate you.”

“No, you always slip your hand onto my thigh, or kiss my jaw when I’m concentrated. I need to properly focus… so you can’t touch me for the rest of the day.”

He let out the whiniest groan ever, head plonking onto the desk as he threw a mini tantrum. “But baby, I need your affection to keep me going. How am I meant to study whilst being starved of your touch?”

Lowkey if you guys went grocery shopping, let’s say last minute, you guys wouldn’t really even need a basket. Like if you gon get 10 things, your manz shoji can just hold all those items without a problem. Definitely lets you push the cart, he brushed his hands against your body so frequently, there’s been many times where you think he’s tryna be superstitious and rile something up within you, and you aren’t wrong, in the slightest. Mezo knows what he’s doing and how it affects you at certain points.

PDA wise, I feel like at the end of the day, after all he’s been through; he could care less of who’s watching cuz somebody gonna be watching anyway, so might as well enjoy it regardless.

“Y/N, someone keeps calling you. Do you want your phone?”

You heard Mezo’s voice coming from behind the bathroom door. You had just gotten out of the shower and were still in the process of drying yourself.

“I’m not done yet, can you get it for me? It’s probably Mina trying to get me to hurry up.” You answered as you looked for the blow dryer.

After a few minutes you finally got out and saw your boyfriend sitting on your bed, your phone in hand. He looked deep in thought but you didn’t think much of it since he always did. So you moved on with your preparation, oppening your closet to choose which jacket you should wear.

“Y/N?” He softly called out to you after a moment.

“Yes Mezo?” You replied, a little distracted by the task at hand.

“Am I your lock screen?”

Suddenly your choice of attire seemed utterly futile.

“You…weren’t supposed to see that.” You eluded, slowly turning around to face him.

You felt really shy about it. Not that Shoji would ever make fun of you for it, he was the sweetest boyfriend you could ask for. But it was a picture you had taken one night when you couldn’t sleep and he was spread out on the bed, all his limbs making for one peculiar starfish but you couldn’t help but melt at the sight. It was also a rare opportunity for you to sneak up on him without one his eyes spotting you. So you had taken the picture and saved it as your lockscreen. Seeing it everyday made you smile but you hadn’t told him yet and you were afraid it would make him uncomfortable.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry.” He apologised, worried about crossing your boundaries when you had probably stepped all over his. “But the call ended before I could answer and for a few seconds the screen was lit up with a photo of me sleeping?”

He looked at you questioningly but he didn’t seem angry, he hardly ever was after all. But he seemed curious and a bit shocked.

“I should be the one apologizing… I took it the last time you spent the night here and you were just so cute I had to save it. But I understand if you don’t feel comfortable with it and I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you…”

He pondered over your words for a moment before finally answering :

“You don’t need to apologise, I don’t mind. I was just…surprised you wouldn’t choose something a bit more pleasing to look at, since you use your phone pretty often.”

You felt a pang in your chest at his self-deprecating comment. You also hadn’t missed the way his eyes had widened slightly when you had called him cute.

Shoji didn’t really have self esteem issues per say, as he didn’t mind the way he looked. But he was aware he didn’t have the most conventional body type and because of that most people wouldn’t find him attractive. The many stares and comments he received almost daily were a constant reminder of this. But still he didn’t care. Especially since the only person whose opinion truly mattered seemed to tolerate the way he looked.

But you didn’t just tolerate him. You didn’t feel like you were out of his league or whatever. You felt lucky that your gentle giant of a boyfriend also happened to be one of if not the most handsome man you had ever laid your eyes on. Granted, what you loved most about him was his personality, but his unusual body was far from off putting in your eyes. You were actually really turned on by him but it’s not like it was a kink or something, because you also found yourself gazing at him like you would a sunset.

“Mezo, I love looking at you. I love the way you look and not just because I love you. I had a crush on you even before we had a chance to talk and get to know each other. So this,” You held up your phone to him before giving the picture a fond look yourself. “you all relaxed and happy, on my bed might I add, is the most pleasing thing I could ever look at.”

His eyes gave you the warmest of smiles before he engulfed you in one of his bear hugs that you loved so much. He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t need to, you understood him better than anyone.
