Over his lifetime, acclaimed Nigerian photographer, J.D. Okhai Ojeikere, photographed thousands of hairstyles worn by Nigerian and African women. Today, these photographs have been seen around the world and continue to inspire stylists, hairdressers and photographers alike.
To pay homage to Ojeikere’s work, photographer Medina Dugger created the Chroma photo series, which she describes as “an ongoing series that celebrates women’s hairstyles in Lagos, Nigeria through a fanciful, contemporary lens.”

What types of ads dominate the magazine? Ads advertising specific fashion brands, non-fashion/clothing related ads.
Could you be the target market? In the future? No, because the magazine focuses on specifically men.
Has your perception of the magazine changed?
No, it has not changed. The magazine is written very well, but I wasn't interested in majority of it because I am a female. I would want to read about things like makeup, female fashion, hair, etc.

I find this ad offensive because it makes women seem like the weaker sex or that they have to be submissive.

I find this ad offensive because the woman picture is in blackface makeup. The women is another race, but is photo-shopped/painted as an African American. This company should have gone about presenting their new flavor of donuts a different way. It is also a stereotype that all black people are “dark-skinned” or “charcoal.”
