I’m working on illustrating all of the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”! I’ve only made 1 so far

I was very annoyed with Jacob in my first play through. I thought he was incredibly childish and pathetic especially when it came to his relationship with Emma. But now at my second play through, I see it very differently.

Of course, it’s Jacob’s fault that they got stuck at the camp, but for all he knew it was just supposed to be a fun extra night. He couldn’t possibly have known the danger he put everyone in. It was very selfish and inconsiderate towards the others, but he didn’t mean to hurt them.

Jacob is a very misunderstood character/person. From beginning to end everyone treats him very poorly and his often made into a joke. It seems that the other characters messes with him because they assume he can take it. He’s a jock, outgoing and not afraid of being childish therefore it’s easy to assume that he is confident and unbothered. That is very much not the case. He is a sensitive, romantic but insecure kid who just wants people to care for him as he do them.

My biggest frustration in the game is how terrible Emma treats Jacob. At first I thought “he is so annoying, she told him that they weren’t dating!”, but then I realized how much she toys with him and actually gaslights him. She is just flirting with him and not enforcing the boundaries she claims she wanted. Jacob being a fool in love, doesn’t understand her on/off affections towards him, which I honestly can’t blame him for. He deeply wants to love and be loved, so he is very quick to apologize and accepting disrespect. Like when Emma literally hit him in the face when he came running to see if she was okay.

When it comes to the gaslighting, Emma is a master at that. Every time Jacob wants to discuss his feelings or different situations, Emma is very quick at turning everything around and making him a villain. He agreed to a summer fling, he left her in the lake, he is a dick about everything. I was flabbergasted at every single conversation they had together, because Emma never takes accountability for anything.

I just love the combination of rough looking stopmotion and extremely traumatized characters… that doesn’t sound very appealing BUT IT IS!

The rough animation really elevates this very well thought out criticism of the church, but also the society build up around it! It’s always such a gutpunch when the show goes from Orels happy, naive childview to the adults who struggles to fit into the neat boxes their society expects them to be in. Like Clay being gay, but married to Bloberta.

I could honestly go on for HOURS about this show! It’s just such an experience where you’re going through all of your emotions. It goes from laughter to disgust, from hope to despair. All of it!
