McGonagall: ... Why does Filius keep looking at you in such a strange manner, Severus?

Snape: (sipping coffee whilst marking) I don't know what you mean.

McGonagall: Why, he keeps glancing at you, as though he's afraid you're about to drop dead any moment.

Snape:

Snape: ...I may or may not have informed Filius about the function of the liver and lungs yesterday evening.

McGonagall:

McGonagall: ...I don't see how that-

Snape: I told him that my organs must be practically decomposed from myself breathing in toxic fumes and testing potions since an adolescent. Then, of course, as Potion's Master. I suspect that from that moment onwards, Filius wholeheartedly believes that I am mortally ill.

McGonagall:

Snape: What? Did you really think repeatedly making poisons and draughts of living death isn't going to have consequences on my health?

Snape: *coughs loudly*

Flitwick: (watery sniffling from behind piles of marking at the other table)

Snape: *smirks*

McGonagall:

McGonagall: You are despicable.

Let's say Lily was from a poor household, Snape is aware of it but ignores it or feigns ignorance about it. Now, Lily is in school and a bunch of hot girls bully her relentlessly. They corner her in the bathroom, class and even in public, humiliating her was like a must-do on the bullies their list.

Snape tells them off, but they don't leave her alone, as cherry on top, she calls him a slur when he told the girls for the umpteenth time to stop and they pull her skirt down or rip her blouse open. The leader of the girls doesn't like her crush (Snape) around Lily, a filthy snivelling poor girl.

He deserves better, he deserves more and someone of his callibre. The bully thinks, that Snape deserves herself of course. Lily called Snape a slur because she caught a glimpse of him almost smiling at her misery. He doesn't forgive her, and to rub salt in the wound.

Before I get into this, let me be clear, I am NOT defending Lucius’s actions. He was a bad guy. But I think there is way more to him than a lot of people like to talk about.

Lucius was raised in the shadow of his father’s expectations- and he took on those same beliefs that Abraxas raised him on. Lucius was always destined to be trapped in his father’s decisions of being entangled with Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Both the Malfoy and the Black families made that choice.

Lucius did most of what he did to keep his family alive. He had to be Voldemort’s right hand man while also protecting his family.

The “Lucius was physically abusive” take is actually genuinely crazy to me because….where did that come from??? Lucius LOVED that little boy. He and Narcissa spoiled that child rotten.

snape once asks harry, "what would i get if i added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?"

in the language of flowers, asphodel means regret after death and wormwood stands for bitterness and sorrow. it’s almost like snape is trying to say something he never could outright—that he’s consumed by regret and grief for lily’s death. it’s a quiet, heart-wrenching glimpse into his pain, disguised as a lesson, and shows just how much his life revolves around the memory of her.

Ever since I read Blowing Smoke by Dawnoftomorrow I've had a thing for a Smoking Severus Snape. I like to imagine he has magical cigarettes that smell marvelous and act like a vaporized potion of sorts....I should go reread Blowing Smoke...

For our fic of the day we have the next chapter -lucky number seven lol - for my Snarriet Fic "Notice" on AO3. It's titled Dreams and Distrust. It's a tiny bit softer this time around. Still a very smutty fic but we're getting closer to the plot resolution. Angst is coming muahahaha! If you're curious the link is below and in the chapter titles.
