the thing about batjokes that is SO compelling to me is that batman was the one that chased not-yet-joker into acid. that’s the only thing #myjoker can remember from Before. no joker origin story ever vibes with me as well as “batman is the only thing joker can remember”. everything is about batman except batman who is the sole embodiment of the past and the future at the same time

ok the social media thing of venerating patrick bateman as some idealized sigma male wall street businessman or whatever is alr ridiculous on its face, but actually reading the book makes it like 10x funnier bc of how genuinely pathetic bateman is in the narration. he literally starts shaking and crying after every social blunder. he has an anxiety attack bc the video rental store has too many options and he doesn't know what to pick
