i know you've done a lot in your career but i will never be over ken. something about you as him stuck with me and i quote too many things from that movie. though i do have project hail mary on my watch list which i can't wait to take the chance to watch whenever i have a moment of not feeling exhausted. @limelightgosling
I've come to accept that Ken is the role that is going to be with me the rest of my life, whether I like it or not - I might as well like it! I hope you get to see the movie, man, it's really special.
❛ Isn't that one of the best feelings? Knowing you've poured everything into a project and created something you're genuinely proud of is amazing, but having the audience embrace it too? That's just the icing on the cake. That said... I have to admit, I was kind of hoping you'd break out into your "I'm Just Ken" performance. I wouldn't have complained one bit. ❜
It is the best thing. I enjoy the work I do whether people like the stuff I'm in or not, I'll still do all of it - but knowing that a story that means to lot with me really resonated with so many people, and brought a little faith in humanity back into the world? Can't put a price on that, that's everything. I did on set, not sure why they cut it out... Probably messed with the flow or something.
i'd happily leave that honour to someone else too. i'm good sleeping very peacefully knowing i'm still firmly attached to earth. it's comforting to have a place that always feels familiar when you come back to it, especially when you're travelling as much as we do. i love london when it's properly grey, everyone's got a coat on and you can duck into a little café to warm up. i know most people would choose sunshine if they had the option. maybe it's because i grew up with it, but i always find myself missing that change in seasons. i love when an album feels like one complete piece rather than twelve songs that just happen to exist together. those albums that have whole concepts and where the entire thing was built around that concept? it's almost cinematic. i have that with a few albums too. i always feel like that's the sign of a really thoughtfully made record.
That's it, we've all got that place that feels like home, whether it's a house, a city, a meal, whatever it is, that's what keeps us going before we head back out into the world again. Some albums feel impossible to listen to from beginning to end nowadays, they just feels disjointed. I know most artists still try to put their songs in an order that flows just right, but like none of the songs lead into the other or anything like that. I sound like an old man, ranting about "music in my day" but people still love that shit for a reason.
One cant argue with that. I love the amount of pink gifts I still get. Like it's coming full circle like them again. Mhmm of course you would for the best costar you ever had. Nothings been the same for you since obviously.
We will always be Barbie and Ken, we just have to be okay with that. What are you doing right now? We gonna hang out?

i mean... he isn't a big sharer and when it comes to me he is even worse at that. so there might be some harm. i am down for looking around for it. there needs to be more queer stories and with an actor of your talent it would be even better. I know this was a joke at first but now i'm kind of wanting it.
Hey, I'm easy-going, whatever makes you two feel most comfortable, that's the most important thing, even if it's for work. I'm dead serious, working with you would be cool.

Kelsea: i just gotta know. Kelsea: how do you get your hair to be that full & luxurious??? Kelsea: auto correct loved me tryin' to type out luxurious... took me way more tries than i can count.
Ryan: Great question. I have no idea. My stylist uses some kinda powder and magic, I think? It doesn't look that good usually.
Thank you Ryan!!! i am so excited and enjoying this moment like the first time. I am so thrilled about it and who knows? maybe you'll see me as a girl's mom in a few months.
You would make the best girl mom! I obviously know that for sure as a girl dad, we're kindred spirits. Even if it's another boy, you're gonna be the best boy mom yet again. I really am so happy for you. Good thing you're due after all the Odyssey craziness! I'm so excited to see the movie.
Think you are grossly underestimating the months but whose o argue that point when I benefit. I had a lovely birthday. My fav bit is all the bids for hanging out here soon. You know how I love quality time. And well your fantastic gifts.
Maybe I am. That's the best thing about your birthday, suddenly everybody remembers you exist. Lucky for you, I remember every day. Maybe every other day. I just don't want to bombard you with affection. Glad you liked them.
❛ Dude, you know that meme with Scorsese that just says, "Absolute Cinema"? Well... that was literally me after watching Project Hail Mary. The second it ended, I think I scared everyone within a five-mile radius because I screamed at the top of my lungs, "ABSOLUTE CINEMA!" Seriously, man... bravo. Brav-freaking-o. What an incredible ride. ❜
You're so kind, man, thank you. I'm really proud of what we did with it, it's a beautiful movie full of love and hope. But the response to it is more than we could've ever dreamed, honestly.

Oh yeah, I absolutely love doing nothing. It's my favorite pastime. No, but in all seriousness, I do like being home, I crave it, but my mind starts doing weird things when I'm not active. And yes, I think John and I accidentally found the only person equally incapable of switching off. It does make life easier when neither of us can judge the other for checking emails at ridiculous hours. Dad dancing, though? I have a feeling both of you are going to be unbearably confident despite possessing absolutely no rhythm. And I'm really glad to hear that. I think that's the best outcome anyone could hope for. Not every relationship is meant to last forever, but if you can come out the other side with kindness and respect, especially for your girls, that's something to be proud of.
You crave what you can't have. Whether it's home, work, peace, noise, if you haven't got it, you want it. I see it clearly now. Everything makes sense. Hey, I have rhythm! The only reason I was part of the Mickey Mouse Club was because I could dance, because I couldn't do much else on it. Have my moves changed since the 90s? Definitely not. Will I need a hip replacement if I'm not careful? Definitely. But that's part of the thrill. Yeah, it's not the girls' fault that Eva and I didn't work out, they've always been our number one priority and always will be.
i'm glad to hear that, man! that's always the goal, we want our guests to feel comfortable around us. i know i choose my questions very carefully because the last thing i want is for someone to feel uncomfortable or offended. at the end of the day, i want people to leave feeling like they had a good conversation, not like they survived an interrogation. honestly, i'd say rachel mcadams would make an incredible co-host. although... that might be a little strange, wouldn't it?
Yeah, a lot of podcasts have a habit of trying to get reactions out of people, that's why I loved going on yours because you and Jason are really chill and just want to have fun together. If I had one, that's what I'd wanna do. Listen, Rachel and I have lived a whole lot of life since we dated, I think it'd be fun to talk about how our perspectives of things have changed since then, that's a lot of catching up to do. We could get 10 episodes out of it easy before we even think about having a guest on.
exactly, got to just do it ourselves and not wait for anyone else. the singing tunes is just an added bonus.
I feel like so many people expect everybody else to do stuff, so they don't do it themselves. I know I've done that plenty. Important question: what's your go-to karaoke song?

I cry a lot. You can ask my wife she'll be the first one to tell you that I love a good cry. But amaze! God the movie was so good. I feel like there isn't much you've done that I haven't liked. Your an amazing actor dude!
Good, I cry all the damn time. I'm the dude who cries when they show sad dogs in charity commercials and donate all my money to them. You're very sweet, thank you. I try to pick the best jobs I can, but I'm super lucky I get to be in that position in the first place.

My wife and I just watched Project Hail Mary, and if you had told me I was gonna cry over a robot-looking thing, I would say you'd be lying. But you got me out of here as a hardened human crying over a movie. So thanks I guess? My wife now has blackmail evidence to use against me if I ever want to leave.
Amaze, amaze, amaze! Isn't Rocky the best? I love him, I miss him. It's beautiful that you let yourself cry, though, man. Nothing wrong with that.
Thanks, I'll take that as a huge compliment, especially coming from you. Just got to give our moms all the praise. We became the men that we are thanks to them. Got to give my dad a little credit too. That makes sense and honestly, I think it must be pretty nice to understand girls and women as they're still a mystery to me sometimes. Two daughters, huh? Oh man, that's going to be so tough when they get into their teenage years. I'm sure it won't be easy to deny them something.
You're damn right, man, moms are incredible, they really are. Trust me, saying no to them is already the hardest thing in the world. I want them to stay humble and not feel like they can get anything they ask for, they've gotta have a little bit of drive to make stuff happen themselves, you know what I mean? It's a tough balance. I don't think I'll get it all right, but luckily I've got a parenting partner who always knows exactly how to deal with them. Eva is so much better at saying no, I don't know where that strength comes from. Actually, I do, because she got it from her mom. You don't mess with Cuban moms.
