now that i've spent five weeks doing nothing but watching football, how does one move on from the world cup?? do i have to pick a professional team to support now or what? while my team didn't make it too far, i loved wearing my Brazil jersey and repping my culture. does anyone else feel more patriotic while watching sports or is it just me? i haven't felt this Brazilian in a long time. / @limelightblvdstarters
Thank you for calling it football. Every time I hear someone call it soccer, a tiny part of my British soul gives up. And yes, I completely understand what you mean. I don't know why, but international tournaments make you feel absurdly patriotic. England managed to finish third, which isn't exactly the fairytale ending we all wanted, but it's certainly better than nothing. I've actually been to Brazil a few times, and one of my favourite things about being there is seeing how passionate and friendly everyone is. The energy is completely infectious. The next step is absolutely adopting a club team and willingly signing yourself up for emotional turmoil every match. Good luck.
Everywhere I go, someone inevitably says, Oh my God, Pedro Pascal is the nicest person in Hollywood. It's become your entire brand now. Do you have any idea how inconvenient that is for the rest of us? I can't even pretend you're secretly awful because nobody believes me. So, for my own benefit, I'd appreciate it if you could be just a tiny bit insufferable every now and then. Just enough to keep expectations realistic. I'm kidding, we all love our favourite internet boyfriend. Or wait, what do they call you now? daddy? / @pcdropascalsx
It really is like a huge chapter of my life. And I really did love doing it. It was hard to leave the job but it was something that I knew I had to do. And maybe there were people thinking that it was time I went. Although watching the World Cup, I am thinking, what if.
I think the what if is probably inevitable. It would almost be strange if you didn't have those moments, especially watching a World Cup from the sofa instead of the touchline after dedicating eight years of your life to it. But try not to let nostalgia rewrite history. You took England to two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final. More importantly, you left the team in a healthier place than you found it. That's a legacy very few managers get to claim.

I know you too well. How could you forget my second greatest acting job, after Young Hercules? Now who's the one who needs to dedicate hours in their week thinking about their old co-star, huh? Thanks, Em, I appreciate you saying that. It's sure as hell not easy, sometimes just being around her and not being with her anymore is pure torture, but that doesn't mean I should be an asshole about it.
I remember Young Hercules far more often than any reasonable person should. Mostly because it amuses me that somewhere out there exists a tiny version of Ryan Gosling wielding a sword. Shh, I was thinking about how funny it's going to be watching John attempt those Mickey Mouse Club dance routines. I can't imagine it's easy. I think a lot of people confuse moving on with pretending none of it mattered, when the reality is that you can care about someone deeply, know they're family forever because you share children, and still accept that your relationship has changed. Now I'm going to ask something slightly nosy because it's me. Have you thought about throwing yourself back out there? I no longer have any single sisters to offer you, Stanley Tucci rather selfishly took the last available Blunt, but I could probably find someone lovely. Unless... there's already someone you're interested in and you're just not telling me?
You deserve to be spoiled rotten every single day, but especially this weekend. Knowing this was your favorite after sixteen years means a whole lot to me. We’ve been through the storm, but coming out on the other side with you has made us stronger than ever. I love you more than words can say, darling. It really is incredible how much deeper our love has grown after everything we've navigated together
Oh, look at us. We've become one of those couples who says unbearably romantic things to each other. If you'd told 28 year old me this would be our future, I probably would've rolled my eyes. But you're right. For a little while there, I genuinely thought we'd reached the end of our story. And now it feels like we've somehow been given the chance to write a whole new chapter together. One where we're a little wiser, a little kinder, and considerably better at actually talking to each other. Who knew communication was so useful? Revolutionary concept. Thank you for choosing me again. I'd still choose you in every lifetime. Though I should warn you, after this anniversary, you've set the bar alarmingly high. You're going to have to keep spoiling me forever now. Poor you.

Calluses, that's what you've given me. Very Colin of him, he's completely predictable, but he's so charming with it, you can't help loving him. I try to keep him grounded, but do you think it works? Absolutely not.
Calluses? I'll take that. It sounds much more dignified than irreversible emotional damage. I'm afraid you're fighting a losing battle trying to keep him grounded. Some men simply wake up every morning and choose confidence, regardless of whether they've earned it that day. Though I do appreciate your efforts on behalf of the rest of society. Now, enough about your boyfriend. On a scale of one to I can't function without Em's witty commentary, exactly how much are you missing me?
you've completely ruined any chance i had of answering this question properly because now i feel like i need 3 business days and a glass of wine before i can even begin. i completely understand what you mean about grieving a character! people think we're being dramatic when we say that, but it's real. you spend months living with someone inside your head, you learn how they think, what scares them, what they love, what they hide from everyone else. then one day somebody says "that's a wrap" and you're expected to leave them behind in a trailer somewhere and go back to being yourself, it's a very strange thing. stranger things obviously changed my life, i don't think there's any point pretending otherwise, vecna gave me things i'll spend the rest of my life being grateful for. but the thing i remember most isn't actually any of the big stuff, it's sitting in that makeup chair for hours before sunrise, slowly disappearing under all of that work and feeling this weird mix of excitement and absolute terror. camelot will always have a special place in my heart because i was so young and so wildly unprepared for any of it. looking back now, i mostly want to give that version of myself a hug and tell him to relax. and sweeney todd... honestly, getting to walk around a tim burton set felt a bit like sneaking into somebody else's dream, i don't know how else to describe it. also, working with spielberg is outrageous and i refuse to move past that part of your answer, if you ever hear a noise outside your house, it's just me trying to steal that experience from you.
Exactly. That's the bit people don't always understand. You're not just leaving a job, you're saying goodbye to someone you've carried around with you for months. It sounds completely ridiculous until you've actually experienced it. And I love that your memories aren't just the big, glamorous moments. I think every actor looks back at one of their early jobs and wants to give their younger self a hug. Mine would probably come with the advice to stop overthinking everything. And yes, Spielberg was surreal. I spent the first few days thinking, That's Steven Spielberg. Then somewhere along the way, he just became Steven. Which somehow made him even more impressive. He's one of the kindest, most curious people I've ever worked with, and he has this incredible way of making you feel like your ideas matter. I miss him terribly, actually. If you're lurking outside my house trying to steal the experience, I should warn you, I have children. They'll spot you immediately and ask if you'd like chocolate before you've even made it over the fence.

i feel like the personal life section on your wiki page is so interesting. in laws with stanley tucci? amazing. used to date michael buble? didn't see that one coming. like at all. what other fun facts about yourself are missing from that page? hit me with them.
That's listed on my wiki page? Stanley forced his way into the Blunt family. He came to my wedding as my co-star and somehow left with my sister. Okay fun facts, I was offered a record deal when I was sixteen. I very nearly became a pop star before deciding at the last minute that it really wasn't for me, which I think was the correct call. I also had a really debilitating stutter as a child. Acting, oddly enough, is what helped me get over it. And if you've seen The Devil Wears Prada, a surprising amount of Emily Charlton's dialogue was improvised. Apparently being sarcastic comes quite naturally to me. Who knew? Oh, and I was offered the role of Black Widow once, but I couldn't do it because I was already contractually tied to a very, very terrible film. Every actor has one that got away. Now it's your turn. There has to be something delightfully random missing from your Wikipedia page.
that's understandable when the world feels like it's changed a lot, though at least bonding over the devil wears prada verse wasn't one of them for how many people loved it! i had a feeling emily would enjoy being intimidating, and it still amuses me so much that you play her when you're such the opposite. it's no wonder you had a ball playing her. a little rest counts in my book, especially for how busy you are! how's filming going? plus don't mind me smiling at the two of you working together again. see, mysterious just makes you want to see the film, right? so i'm doing my job! it didn't take long for the next thing since i'm filming in vancouver right now, although it's not exactly a place i'm upset about being when it's gorgeous here.
Oh, she would absolutely revel in the fact that people find her intimidating. Though I have to confess, I do think there are little bits of her in me. Or so I've been told. I definitely lack a filter sometimes, and I can be spectacularly blunt when the mood strikes. I suppose I do my surname justice every now and then. Going back to A Quiet Place always feels strangely familiar, and getting to work with John again is never a hardship. It's one of those jobs that feels like coming home. So I'm loving it and getting to work with Cillian again; it's always such a pleasure. And look at you, doing your job perfectly. You've successfully made me curious. Vancouver's a pretty wonderful place to be stuck for work, to be fair. What are you filming over there?
You crave what you can't have. Whether it's home, work, peace, noise, if you haven't got it, you want it. I see it clearly now. Everything makes sense. Hey, I have rhythm! The only reason I was part of the Mickey Mouse Club was because I could dance, because I couldn't do much else on it. Have my moves changed since the 90s? Definitely not. Will I need a hip replacement if I'm not careful? Definitely. But that's part of the thrill. Yeah, it's not the girls' fault that Eva and I didn't work out, they've always been our number one priority and always will be.
That's very accurate. The second I have work, I want to be at home. The second I'm home for more than a week, I convince myself I should be working. It's exhausting being inside my own head sometimes. Oh my God, I'd completely forgotten about The Mickey Mouse Club. I'm absolutely going to disappear down a YouTube rabbit hole watching tiny Ryan Gosling giving it his all with those dance moves. Now you have to teach John those moves. I genuinely admire the way you and Eva have handled everything. The girls are incredibly lucky to have parents who never lost sight of what mattered most. That's the sort of thing they'll appreciate more and more as they get older.
so i gotta know, what has been the best question you've gotten to answer from fans and what has been the weirdest. i'm that guy who taps into responding to when my fans say out there things online cause it's funny. i also know that a lot of my fans aren't brave enough to say them when they are face to face with me which is interesting. like all that confidence they have leaves instantly. @emilyblnts
Fans are wonderfully unhinged. The best questions are usually the ones that make me laugh because they're so oddly specific. I once got asked whether I thought Emily Charlton from The Devil Wears Prada would survive The Hunger Games, and I spent far longer considering that than I'd like to admit. The answer is yes. She'd somehow become Head Gamemaker by day three. Though you're absolutely right about one thing. Online they'll say the wildest things imaginable, and then they meet you in person and suddenly it's different. But it makes sense, I think I've also lost the ability to function when I'm in front of someone I admire. What's the weirdest question you've received?
Thank you for spoiling me rotten this weekend. I think this might've been my favourite anniversary yet. Which is saying something after sixteen of them. It's funny, isn't it? We almost lost each other, and now I don't think I've ever felt closer to you. I love you, darling.

what did you expect Em? we spent all those long nights together promoting our little film. of course you would end up getting me pregnant. Gosh! and well, she knows it's yours but i think she is okay with the idea that you keep your facade with john. do you miss me? do you miss our baby already? she or he is growing so fast and please, let me know every detail about the girls' reaction about their new baby brother or sister.
I knew I shouldn't have let you look at me like that. One minute we're promoting a movie, the next we've conceived our child. I'm relieved Rachel has accepted my very important role in this family. It takes a remarkably secure woman to be okay with her girlfriend carrying someone else's baby. Though I promise I'll let her borrow the baby on weekends. Do I miss you? Constantly. And yes, I already miss our baby terribly. Tell them their other mum loves them very much and expects updates on every kick and weird craving. Hazel will immediately ask a million questions and will want to help and Violet.. well, she'll be Violet and be extremely jealous but it's okay, she'll get over it and come around. I think we've accidentally built a rather lovely little family, haven't we?
It doesn't. I can imagine it does when it comes to managers who were only there for a short amount of time. But for me it was 8 years. 10, if you include the players who were in the under 21s when I managed them. Oh, I don't know.
8 years? That's not just a job, though, is it? That's a huge chapter of your life. I suppose that's the trouble with leaving something you genuinely loved. You can be completely at peace with your decision and still wonder, what if? Though I also think it's better to leave people wanting you back instead of staying until everyone wishes you'd gone.
