Recently I saw a video in tik tok and then a post on tumblr that Toph loved Suyin more.! Because when Amon captured Lin, Toph did not come to her aid!
Guys let's clarify a few points:
1. Lin was captured on an airship. On The Airship. In the aboveground space. In the AIR. Yes Toph is the strongest earth and metalbender but even SHE could not see it with any fiber of her soul.
2. Suyin and her family spent at least several days in Kuvira's prison. Amon took away Lin's power on the same day he captured her!
3. Toph once said that she and Katara no longer interfere in the events taking place in the world. Amon was making a coup. Yes Lin is Toph's daughter but Amon's motives did not concern the Beifong family itself but the whole world. Kuvira and Suyin have a completely different relationship (after all they were close). And not only Suyin was captured but almost all members of the Beifong family.
4. Lin is stronger than Su. In training with Lin Toph was more strict than with Su (fact). Just... Toph did not coach her younger daughter as much as the older one. Of course Lin has more psychological injuries but as metal- and earthbender, she is stronger than Su. In general, she is psychologically stronger than her (to be the chief of police for so many years... you need to have a strong character)
5. Toph understands that her eldest daughter is STRONGER than the youngest. I'm sure Toph was very upset about what happened to Lin (she could see what Amon did to her) but since their relationship was... nothing (they hadn't seen each other for 20 years, hadn't talked for 20 years, they had a big fucking fight) she understood that her daughter just didn't need her, she would handle it all by herself.
