Today I found out we owe most of our punctuation to the medieval Irish. Theyād had no experience with Latin before, so when these Latin manuscripts started showing up written in all caps with no spaces between the words looking like a brick wall of hot nonsense, the Irish sighed and said āgive me that feckin quillā and they did such a good job of editing the texts and producing readable copies that their conventions kind of stuck with us through the ages
