“Of the paintings she’d mentioned, The Anatomy Lesson was the only one I knew. A detail from it was featured on the poster for the exhibition: livid flesh, multiple shades of black, alcoholic-looking surgeons with bloodshot eyes and red noses.”

“For the poet is an airy thing, a winged and a holy thing; and he cannot make poetry until he becomes inspired and goes out of his senses and no mind is left in him…”
-Ion by Plato
“ ‘Goodness, you magpies,' he said into the abrupt silence that fell. 'Where have you all been?’ ”

I noticed a copy of The Little Friend by Donna Tartt in one of your posts and I wanted to ask about your thoughts on it! Haven't come across many people who've read that out of Donna's works.
Shortly put, Donna Tartt’s “The Little Friend” is a journey without a destination. Frankly, it is not for everyone, and I’m acutely aware of the fact that the majority of Donna’s—otherwise devoted—readers, bear a significant dislike for this book. However, I liked it immensely. Its ingenuity is indisputable, but it is not understood by everyone, given the environment in which the plot revolves and therefore bears many references to that certain region and the people which occupy it. Its prologue however, is indescribably eerie and intriguing, as all of Donna’s prologues are; although it is a prologue to a plot which is never resolved. If you’re planning to read the book, I suggest that you pay close attention to every little detail since otherwise you won’t be able to properly understand its conclusion.
