This is another one of my favorite pieces. One day, I really wanted to paint something 'real' — something in the spirit of the Old Masters. At the time, I was very into Rembrandt and his era, so the choice was simple: I needed symbolism, rich drapery, and a skull — it was a must. I worked on this painting for about a week. I was incredibly happy when I heard my teacher say, 'Finally, you're painting something worthwhile.' And since then, I don't think I've painted anything quite as 'worthwhile' since. At least, I haven't taken on a serious project in a long time
