so ferris bueller’s day off (1986) features a conversation between cameron and sloane about the future, including possible future careers. it’s of course left open ended because they don’t know what to do with their lives, which is the point. still, i did some extracurricular musing and landed on vague career paths for all three of them, because why not?

cameron: low level job at a radio station (secretarial work or smthn similar) → people keep telling him his has a good voice for radio → eventually applies successfully for his own late night show (probably egged on by ferris and sloane) → radio dj

sloane: signs up for improv classes on a whim → gets really into improv just when people are starting to take note of it → does improv and probably some acting as well later in her career like many successful improvisers end up doing → improv comedian/actress

ferris: goes into advertising because it’s the easiest route (already his dad’s field of work) → happens to have a knack for it and the plot armor necessary to protect him from scrutiny vis a vis his professionalism and lack thereof → doesn’t really climb the ranks but he’s good at the job he’s got → advertising specialist
