had a dream they made an x-men themed XCOM game, but part of the gimmick was you primarily had to use mostly throwaway minor characters (proc gen?) and the more famous x-men would only swing through occasionally

now why am i seeing "video game music isn't music" as a take
some people really do just make up a guy to be mad at. twice
I mean legitimately horrid take but it doesn't feel accurate to say that this is making up a guy to get mad at. because like. "Guy who exclusively listens to videogame OSTs and feels smugly superior about it" is very much not only *a* real guy but an entire Type Of Guy on the internet.
Like the last screenshot here presents "anything on the radio isn't music" as a silly hypothetical to prove a point, but there's a good chance that that was exactly the type of opinion that OOP was trying to be a contrarian against in the first place, because the idea that non-videogame music is just formulaic repetitive vapid background noise that can never reach the emotional heights of a videogame OST is an opinion that's genuinely held by a small but not insignificant (and very vocal) population of Gamers™ (often stemming from a lack of familiarity with non-videogame-music beyond mass-produced top 40s pop, or from memeticlaly ingrained stereotypes about rap and country). This take is very clearly just the contrarian, pendulum-swinging-too-far-in-the-other-direction response to it.

sometimes an asmr video will introduce you to the most frightening concept of all time like what if you were on a plane and the flight attendant spent twenty three minutes just talking to you directly.
Let's fucking go !!!!!
Oh well that's nice
wait what the fuck
When the ruling class of the semi periphery displaces people to mine minerals or set up data centres, their customers are still the West. It is still the imperial core's faults in all of this.
at some point deltarune is gonna end and everyone who thought it was about jevil or tenna or spamton or fucking gaster is gonna throw up cause it was about the teenage girls and the tma enby main characters and not any of the male side characters

Susie and Ralsei dont remember any game overs. With few exceptions like Flowerys fight which doesn't actually result in death.
That means to them, our gamer skills are highly inflated compared to reality. Maybe that's why they let Kris lead...
hi captain archer its me im back.
what ! daniels the time agent what are you doing back on the enterprise.
well archer i have another time travel mission. for you and trip. you need to go back in earth history. there's some alien doing evil shit to your human timeline and you are the only ones who can stop him.
no Daniels enough. im tired of being at your beck and call. why cant the temporal agents do it yourselves.
you dont understand archer. we in the future dont have any allegiance to the old earth colonies and territories. were all one race the human race. so we need a true patriot who is willing to risk it all for-
what! daniels i said no. and im not going to be swayed because we on earth arent that primitive any more we are all equals and work together as one planet.
just let me finish jonathan. we need a true. american. patriot. to stand for free speech.
captain archer stands up slowly and smirks and the camera follows him as he stands and when it comes to rest theres an american flag right behind his head filling the shot as he smirks.
well why didnt you say so. lets go red white and blue on this alien mother fucker.
advertisement break. cut to archer and trip getting dressed preparing to go through the time portal.
so captain where did you say we were going?
well trip it's more like When are we going haha. well. he didnt give me much information, but we will be traveling back in earth's history to the early twenty first century.
wow, not too far back. did he say what we're supposed to be doing there?
captain archer pulls on his turning Point USA t shirt and red ball cap.
we're going to an old american college campus. we have an assassination to.prevent.
My more controversial Opinion that I think a lot of you would hate is that I think we should stop taking writing advices from screenwriters.
Yes, I recognise the place of easy-to-digest fiction...those airport novels, so-called beach reads, books that ask little and offer uncomplicated pleasure. But that isn't what I long for as a reader.
I want to see my generation write the next classics: works that future generations return to, emulate, and weave into their own cultural vocabulary.
I want to see more genre fiction of such ambition and craftsmanship that the distinction between literary and genre fiction dissolves altogether.
It's bad out there too. Grab an issue of Booklist and Publisher's Weekly and look at what they decide to promote

Idk what the consensus is for this. But I think chapter 5 had easily the weakest soundtrack out of all of them. There truly was not a single song that really stood out to me as "wow! I gotta listen to that later!" Which every other chapter did several times. And listen, im not hard to impress. I loved "dump" and "glacier"... but flower man was boring to my ears!
I guess the only stand out was mew mews miku music. And it was indeed the best track for ch5. But honestly... I liked dump more.
