Paperman - Full Animated Short Film Yes.. Finally :) Beautiful.
Had a free moment at work today and tried out something I've been wondering about for a while. In order to scale up a digital image, you have to add more pixels. Photoshop figures out what colour and value to give these pixels by looking at each pixel and its neighbours in order to make a descent guess for what it should put in between. This works pretty well and helps to save quality a lot. But it does really just create a bunch of content based on some simple rules instead of trying to maintain the characteristics of whatever's in the image. The same goes for scaling down an image. Since it's then losing pixels, the software has to bleed some compensation over to the remaining neighbours. So essentially every time you scale an image, you move a bit further away from the original. I just wondered what would happen if I grabbed a 200x200 photo of a face and scaled it up to 300x300.. and then scaled it back down to 200x200.. and then repeated this for as long as I could be bothered.. (well I made and action that had it running for about 10 minutes). This is what I got.

How can there be perception without pattern recognition? Recognizing patterns is calculation. So perception is calculation? We are the sad and happy calculators of our gods, as our calculators one day will be the sad and happy men of us.

Jason Silva: Wonder Junkie If I was dying my last words would be - "watch this 5 min interview". I care about a lot of things, but nothing more than this. (I need to figure out a way to compress this into a 360 neck tattoo).

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D - Official Trailer (HD) XD Maybe after they've squeezed through the first and the third (good choice for Heather by the looks of it), they'll move on to the second - the uncanniest piece of entertainment ever produced.
Metallic Vaio 2012 I'd love to see a tank sized version of this one.

Keynote Gabe Zichermann at TNW2012 Great talk. Gamifaction is still in its infancy (that's why there are so many talks trying to raise awareness), but eventually it's going to take over our lives. And yes, games make you smarter. Here's Andrea Kuszewski's article and a video on the n-back task. I try to dedicate all underground and toilet time to the n-back task but I'm still struggling with dual 3 back :/ http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/more/kuszewski20110720r
