Brilliant disguises.

i think it's really fun to think about how for both katara and zuko, the avatar was a symbol of hope for the end of their suffering and a convenient focal point to fixate on rather than dwelling painfully on the trauma of their present existence. but for toph he was just this guy she thought was dope and so she went camping with him? pretty routine stuff

au where jet doesn’t find out that zuko and iroh are fire nation and when he runs into the gaang he goes ‘oh by the way this is my new friend lee. we met on the ferry ride over here!’ and the gaang and zuko just like awkwardly stare at each other for a really long time

the fact that it’s toph specifically who speaks up on behalf of zuko + mentions his “messed-up family” has me feeling Emotions on this fine Saturday night.

toph reassuring zuko that he’s done his uncle proud and then thumping him really hard in the arm is everything  i ever wanted from this friendship and also fictional media in general, thanks.
