oh yeah no the writers were crazy for that 😭 like the korra comics had a really interesting take on queerness in the atlaverse and now we’re back to haha zuko gay funny. it’s def part of the reason of why i’m scared of how they’re gonna portray korra in seven havens

yeah exactly it's the disinterested laziness of it all, like I never expected any semblance of canon queer zuko but I genuinely thought the people writing avatar were beyond "a guy calling a guy attractive is funny/weird/embarrassing in a way we find so glaring that we think the gaang reacting badly is the normal response"-tier jokes

fwiw I think Korra will be fine on this front because she's famously canonically queer already so they'll try to be respectful but the Zuko gag really tells on a certain lack of grace when it comes to acknowledging general queerness
