I do not mean something such as forgetting the rising agent or using salt instead of sugar. I mean truly. Irreparably. Catastrophically. Fucking up a cake.

It's how you see it depicted in movies or fanfiction. A cake so truly awful that it bears no resemblance to what it once believed it could be. A conglomerate of despair. A pile of burnt sludge in a cake tin.

My experience with this anomaly was beautiful

It was the texture of tapioca pearls, perhaps ones slightly over cooked. It was a sickly yellow, that of a jaundiced infant. It weighed more than the sum of the bowl before cooking. It held its shape well.
