They queerbaited us, plain and simple. I don't care what anyone says, anyone who watched the show could tell that the writers were building up to Byler. And they threw that all away. They completely fucked over their main queer character, made him a stepping stool to their straight characters. For a show that's supposed to be about ostracized groups and people who don't feel welcomed, this show really f**kee up when it came to actually supporting those groups. As a queer person, I cannot verbalize just how devastated I am. It's not that my ship didn't come true, it's that I had hope, genuine hope, that we would finally get to see a gay relationship between main characters on a piece of popular, mainstream media. I was so, so hopeful. Just to have it all crushed. Just to have Will be sidelined and ignored and for all of Mike's own writing and character development to be crushed under the cowardice and refusal to display a gay relationship. I could go on and on and on, because I am angry and sad and upset, but I won't. I can't. Just screw the duffer brothers, cowards they are. Screw them.
