Does anyone else feel weird when people call Duke the ānormal oneā?
Like⦠no? Heās just as much as a freak as everyone else in the Batfamily? Tragic backstory and everything. It feels like an excuse to say they included him, without knowing anything about his character.

Sometimes I think people gloss over how game-changing Tim Drake was to the Batfamily.
He seriously redefined the relationship between Robin and Batman, and the role that Robin plays. Most peopleās favorite Robin is unknowingly Tim Drake or a Robin heavily inspired by him. The whole gadgets, tech whiz, and mini detective thing was always more of Timās role as Robin. In more newer stories that are coming out where Dick or Jason are Robin, they end up making both of them more like Tim, because he was just so perfect as Robin.
While everyone has their favorite Robin, which is completely justified, Tim was THE Robin.
I think the worst part of the jjk ending was just that it felt like Gege lost interest in his own story halfway.
Like I genuinely believe that he was going to go somewhere with the various plot points he set up, but backed out bc he grew tired of jjk and tried to finish the story as soon as possible so he could move on. There were just so many things left unanswered, and the ending was super rushed.
Iām not even super upset, just really disappointed because I had a lot of faith in the story.

hi! i would like to highlight this fundraiser. i hope everyone who comes across this would help @mohammed-atallah (Muhammad Atallah and his family) in any way they can. scan the qr code (i got it from haruka aoki's pub materials) and donate.
Hello kind friends and dear community,
My name is Haruka A⦠Haruka Aoki needs your support for Bone Grafting Operation for Muhammad & Ho
Further details from Ahmed Alostaz, Muhammad's brother-in-law
"My wife's brother, Muhammad, was going to bring aid from the Nabulsi roundabout. He was shot in his left hand by an explosive bullet, which led to nerve loss and bone fragmentation. He needs a bone graft outside Gaza, but the situation is difficult for them. Their house was completely destroyed, and Muhammad's father is also unwell and needs constant medical care. The family is focusing their efforts on caring for Muhammad, as he will need many operations to restore his hand to what it was, and also on rebuilding their destroyed home."
as of writing this post, this campaign is only around 16% completed. and their family is very grateful for it. here is an [Aug 21, 2024] update taken straight from their gfm:
[...]
I am Iman, the eldest sister of Muhammad. There are no words to express how grateful my family and I are to all of you. We are a family of 13, including my young children Malak and Amir, Retaj, Rahaf, Saja, Alaa, Amani, Iman, Sobhi, Alaa, and Ahmed, my husband, and my brother Muhammad, who is injured. When we launched this fundraising campaign, I never imagined that it would receive so much love, generosity and compassion. I was honestly starting to lose hope and wondered if our innocent children would ever find safety again; I was preparing for the worst. Your unwavering support made me and my family feel hopeful again.
[...]
Please continue to support us and share our story so that our children and grandchildren can survive this brutal and relentless slaughter of our people and not just become numbers on your phone screens. I know that donations are not easy in these times, but I believe that every contribution has the power to change someone's life. That is why I am participating in this campaign with all my faith, not only to save them, but also to protect their dreams and help them get out of Gaza.
[...]
We will never forget how you stood by us during the darkest times of our lives. Thanks to each and every one of you, safety is no longer a distant dream. Things will never be the same again, but knowing that there are brave souls out there who will always stand by us is what keeps us from completely giving in to despair. With your help and generous donations, we can leave Gaza and build a new life and rise from the rubble.
[...]
tag list under the cut for wider reach. i hope it's okay. dm me to be included/excluded. tysm. šµšø from the river to the sea, palestine will be free within our lifetime.

Every edit of Gojo returning in the manga being to the song āDaddyās Homeā and every Nobara edit now being with āTupac Backā is actually so iconic.
Okay so this is totally random, but if you were in Parisās position and had to choose between Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite as the fairest, who would you have chosen?

Could someone recommend literally any comic from DC? It can be about any character, setting, or timeline. Iāve been itching to binge something new. So far Iāve mostly only read Batman comics.
Kyle Rayner's og Green Lantern run ('94 to '04) is great, and Judd Winick's run is a personal favorite of mine.
Batgirl (2000) if you haven't already read it; you said you've been reading Batman, don't know if that includes the whole batfam. Can't recommend enough, one of the best to ever do it.
The Flash (1987) is a great binge candidate imo. You can start with Waid's run (#62 onward) if you want, though Wally has some good development in the earlier runs.
Justice League (1987) is a more comedic book, with a roster made up of overall lesser known characters, so it's both a good time and a nice way to explore some new characters.

For not Batfam? Oh, so many. Impulse (1995) is like. My fav comic of all time? So good. Also Flash (1987). Young Justice (1998). Green Arrow (1988) and Green Arrow (2001). The Spectre (2001). Identity Crisis (2004). Relative Heroes (2000). Titans (1999). 52 (2006). Outsiders (2003). JSA (1999). Birds of Prey (1999). Arsenal (1998). Birds of Prey (2010). Blue Beetle (2006). Catwoman (2003). Damage (1994). Doctor Mid-Nite (1999). Flash & Green Lantern: the Brave and the Bold (1999). Gotham Central (2003). Manhunter (2004). Outsiders (2009). Gotham City Sirens (2009). Justice Society of America (2006). Mister Miracle (1989).
I can go on. What sort of thing are you looking for? What have you read so far?
Ahh, thank you so much! So far the Batman comics Iāve read are the more popular ones (I think). Iāve read Batman: Year One, Batman: Hush, Batman: Long Halloween, Batman: The Man Who Laughs, Batman: The Killing Joke, and Batman: Death in the Family. Stuff like that. Then I started to read more of the other batfamily comics just some runs of the Batgirls, Red Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood. Right now Iām staying up to date with the Boy Wonder comics by Juni Ba.
Some of the stuff Iām looking for is just comics focused on one character for the most part. It can be any genre with any character, Iāve just been wanting to get into more DC :)
Let me know if you need me to elaborate more lol. Thank you again! I really appreciate it. Iāll start reading your recs soon!

1. That Jason tried to kill Tim when he attacked him at the Titanās Tower. He beat my boy up but did not try to kill him even after he knocked Tim out.
2. Also that Tim was a sobbing mess the whole time. Lmao right before Jason K.Oāed him he was like ādo you still think youāre better than me?ā and Tim was like āyeah.ā šš
3. Timās favorite Robin is Jason. Itās Dick! He was such a Dick Grayson fanboy.

"Odysseus could have raised Astyanax as his own son! He shouldn't have killed him! Zeus is just an idiot who doesn't understand anything about children!"
Imagine you are Astyanx. Imagine that one day, you discover that your father, the man you thought was your father, is actually the murderer of your real father, who stole you from your cradle. Imagine that for years, you see your father lying to everyone, but the thought never crossed your mind that he might be lying to you. How do you know he didn't take you to ensure Troy would have no heir to the crown? That he took you to one day make you a puppet king in Troy for him? He's such a good liar, how do you know he wasn't lying when he looked you in the eye and said, "I love you, my son."
You know that your fatherāno, he's not your father, never wasādid terrible things, but it never crossed your mind that you were one of the terrible things he did. You are a Trojan prince. You are Hector's son. You are not a little orphan from the battlefield that Odysseus took pity on. Odysseus destroyed your city. Odysseus lied to you. Odysseus has manipulated you. And Odysseus will PAY.
So many Greek tragedies tell about exactly this - about the attempt to prevent a tragedy, and about how the attempt failed, just as the gods and prophets had warned. If Astyanax had stayed alive, he would have murdered Odysseus' family no matter what Odysseus did, because that's how Greek tragedies work.
This but Iād like to add that with the amount of Greek gods on Troyās side who were salty about the loss, thereās no way that they wouldāve let Astyanax be peacefully raised by Odysseus.
The gods wouldāve, as Zeus put it, 100% have let Astyanax know that his real father is Hector, who was killed alongside the rest of the kingdom by the side Odysseus was on. That he was being raised by the man who (unintentionally) started the Trojan war that got his people killed.
That alone couldāve been enough to make Astyanax lose his shit, but Iād imagine the gods wouldāve done some even more fucked up stuff to make sure that Astyanax is brutal when he gets his revenge, making it as tragic as possible.
So, as awful as it was, Odysseusās best bet was to kill Astyanax. You canāt be sure that Astyanax wouldāve had mercy for Odysseus because he spared his life and raised him from infancy when the gods could easily poison his mind.
I think itās hilarious how Tim Drake sounds like someoneās self insert but heās not.
This kid met Dick when he was super young, remembered it so vividly that he recognized his acrobatics in Robin (while he was stalking both Robin and Batman without them knowing), and realized Dick is Robin and Bruce is Batman. Then he keeps it a secret for years until Jason dies and he goes up to Bruce and convinces him that he should let Tim be Robin. AND IT WORKS. Then when heās sent to go train he catches the eyes of freaking Lady Shiva and she trains him because she thinks he might be able to kill her eventually. Then heās sent back to Batman and he is a fantastic Robin for a long time.
That literally sounds like fanfiction, but he is very real and very loved. Just shows no matter how self indulgent a story might sound, you should still write it anyways because it CAN be good.
