I don’t think in any other case you could openly joke about any other terror attack that killed thousands and traumatized a whole generation of people. but “9/11” really is not about what happened, its how it was adapted into a narrative and nationalistic identity. it’s remembered because its a justification for every action carried out in the middle east, future and present. its memed so heavily in the mainstream because it was already bastardized and memeified by the american propaganda machine.
