If you think about it and you could see how you could make it happen, it's just not big enough. I find when I work on this concept with my clients it expands their minds, their idea of who they are, and what they are capable of. So what is it? What is your impossible goal? What if you could do anything? What if your current beliefs were not in your way? What if you thought better of your capability? How would you show up differently in your life? What results would that lead to? I find with clients, the impossible in their minds is very possible. We just need to tweak some disempowering thoughts and beliefs. It's easy together. We got this! Whew, I felt that last post, and it has me a little emotional thinking about the subject of overeating. Let's get a little light and fun here. Here is the behind-the-scenes when I'm coaching with clients. At this moment, I was working on my Instagram content. You might see some posts I posted last week there on the screen. Am I the only one that thinks Trello is life? I've used it for years, but for organizing my social media it is so freaking amazing! I can write copy in it, and it leaves the spaces. I can add emojis from my computer and I can post it all from my phone. 😲📲 If you join my Facebook Group Learn to Thrive with ADHD, you can see there where I use Trello for my grocery shopping and meal planning. I made a video about it there. Then...get this...I share it with my husband (and my son before he spread his wings and flew the nest). So we always ALL know what is needed at the store, and we can ALL add to the list. AND IT'S FREE! So if you don't know, 🎬 YouTube is actually my primary place to hang out. My channel there is, yep, you guessed it, Learn to Thrive with ADHD. My channel is a baby. I just started it at the end of April, but I post there weekly, come hell or high water. Yikes, let's hope neither of those. Should I do a video there on the grocery store and dinner menu Trello board? I could even share my board in the description of the video, and all you do is copy the board and tweak it as desired. Let me know in the comments if this sounds interesting to you. My Dad passed away this year. This is the first Father's Day without him. Our relationship was odd. We didn't communicate much. We didn't see each other often. I got some coaching right before he passed that left me with a peace that our relationship will be better someday. Not here are this earth but after. I feel that is true today. How does focusing on your past mess up your life? Yep, I said it. Here is how. There is something you want in life. You tried to get it and you failed. What does that mean? Does it mean you can't do it? Not even a little. No, but Mande you don't understand, I really tried, and I have failed so many times. I've never been able to do this thing. It doesn't matter! Let me tell you why. Listening carefully because this is for you. Your past means NOTHING about what you can do in the future. NOTHING! Something I teach my kids when they say, "I can't do it!" is I haven't figured this out yet. With my clients, I help them understand we are working with all new tools and changing our brains. One magic way to feel a little better every single day is to capture one of those negative thoughts and really question it? Is it really true? I'll give you an example from a client today. The thought was, "I have a fear of commitment." Yet there were many ways in her life she was making commitments, so we need to question that thought. How does it feel when you think, "I have a fear of commitment?" Probably not good, but in a coaching session we would really narrow that feeling down. I imagine some people may feel helpless, disempowered, inferior or maybe apathetic. You can do this yourself every day. In my IGTV I've posted the first of the Self Coaching Course I have on YouTube. You can find the link to my YouTube Channel in the Link Tree in my bio or search Learn to Thrive with ADHD on YouTube and click on my face. So those feelings we talked about. None of them make us feel great. Do you want to feel that way? When you feel this way because you are thinking, "I have a fear of commitment." You are probably committing to fewer things than you would. Which could affect your life negatively in many ways. There are several things you are doing and not doing when you are thinking the thought, "I have a fear of commitment." Your result would be not committing to things you might because you are believing the thought, "I have a fear of commitment." In a coaching session, we would really take the time to work on that thought poking holes in whether it's even true and moving toward useful thought. This is usually baby steps like, "I'm becoming a person that is not afraid of commitment." or "There are many ways in my life I'm not afraid of commitment at all." another good step is, "I'm learning there is no need to fear commitment." Another point I want to make here is when someone says this, they are identifying as a person with a fear of commitment. Which is very disempowering. Thinking this is just who you are makes you believe there is nothing you can do about it, which is very untrue.
